After wearing plaid twice this week and getting the Eyes of Judgmental Disapproval from Chris Cornell in yesterday's post, I knew that it was high time to give another print a whirl. Enter this dress, which I snagged from F21 a few weeks ago.
I initially had on a much wackier cardigan with this ensemble, but when I traipsed out of the closet wearing it, Boyfriend gave me something very similar to Cornell's Eyes of Judgmental Disapproval -- Boyfriend's Eyes of "I Know You Dress Kind of Wacky Sometimes But That's Pretty Wacky Even for You." And since Boyfriend is my boyfriend in real life and not my imaginary boyfriend like Chris Cornell, I actually heeded what his furrowed eyebrows indicated and changed into something a bit more sedated.
You and your eyes win this one, Boyfriend, but next time the wacky cardigan stays on. BwAhaHAhaHAh-- sorry, I got carried away there for a second.
silky diamond print dress, f21 [x]
cardigan, j.crew
burnt orange tights, anthro [x-ish in 'rust']
kinnetic flats, steve madden
belt, f21
nest ring, etsy
gold bangle, kate spade
It's not immediately obvious, but there are some darling little bows in the front of the dress. The perfect finishing detail!
Also, next week I am officially launching BREAK THE FASHION RULES week. Here is the schedule:
Monday - mixing patterns
Tuesday - taboo color combinations (navy/brown + black, red + pink, etc!)
Wednesday - spring colors and prints in the winter
Thursday - one color from head to toe
Friday - tights and sandals
I'll be wearing an outfit each day that breaks the aforementioned rules. If you'd like to participate, feel free to send in your outfit pictures over the weekend and next week and I'll post them up on here on the corresponding days. For each rule, please submit your picture at least one day before it is scheduled to go up so that I have enough time to get the post in order.
My email is: amy.kelinda@gmail.com
Have fun, and have a great weekend!
LOVE the F21 dress! As a tall lady, I pretty much cannot find dresses there, but you are absolutely rockin' this one. Such a gorgeous print and color.
ReplyDeleteWill have to see if I have any rule-breakin' photos to submit...
Oh your rule breaking for next week sounds excellent! I can't wait to see what you come up with. And : ) at your boyfriend. I'm a pretty wacky dress at times, too, and once in a while I'll look at my outfit pics and wonder how mine let me out of the house.
ReplyDeleteThe bows are so cute and I love how you cinched it with a belt in between. That dress does not look like it's from F21 at all.
ok i think i could do all of those except one color head-to-toe, that weirds me out! i'm sure you can pull it off though!
ReplyDeleteok, I LOVE the title of your post today! You look adorable as always! And your hair....GORGEOUS!!!!!! So full and luscious! I know what you mean about your boyfriend lol. I get those looks sometimes too!

ReplyDeleteI think wacky is more than okay sometimes! Everyone needs a little wacky in their life every now and then. :)
I love the color of that dress...it is so pretty! I will definitley be sending you some outfits :)
ReplyDeleteOh Amy, you totally crack me up :) Your description of Chris Cornell and BFs judgmental eyes is amazing. And yay for breaking fashion rules -- your theme next week sounds awesome. Haha, and I do ALL of those things you mentioned too. Plus, I didn't even know you were supposed to avoid pink and red together, I always wear them together on purpose. Pretty much a walking fashion faux pas over here ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha, my little sister does that with me sometimes as well...she keeps me and my clothes in line. XD
ReplyDeleteI love the print on the dress! Looks great on you. :D

ReplyDeleteWhat a cute dress. I like the funky pattern and little bows on front! Adorable. And I'm betting you can easily transition this into spring. What a great little number!
What a great dress! And you're so funny, Amy - you just crack me up. I can't wait to see your rule-breaking either! Hmmm, maybe I can do some rule-breaking of my own too.
