"Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name
What's puzzling you is the nature of my game"
Can you believe that I didn't start listening to the Rolling Stones until just 4 years ago? Unlike a lot of people I know, I didn't grow up in a household where parents or older siblings played classic blues, rock, or what-have-you. My folks listened strictly to Chinese pop tunes, so that's what I grew up knowing. I didn't get even my first taste of English-language music until I won a radio from a fundraiser in 5th grade, which kind of explains why I missed the whole Spice Girls thing that a lot of my friends recall quite fondly.
Obviously, it took me a loooooong time to learn to appreciate classic rock, which is why I'm forgiving my younger sister right now for not "getting" it. She'll come around.
So the ring, cardigan buttons, and necklace were the "stones" I was actually referring to in the title. The cardigan is a gift from Boyfriend's mom for Christmas, and the necklace is from Boyfriend's sister. I was really surprised by how spot-on they were in picking out things I'd love, especially since I was always under the impression that I'm near impossible to shop for, haha! But his mom and sister are great at picking up on a person's personality, likes, and dislikes -- it's incredible, really!

Now, back to tackling the rest of this Wednesday afternoon...
Omg, Amy I love this OOTD! It's so effortless and gorgeous. Love the stripes! Can't believe it's F21. I gotta go check it out right away!
ReplyDeleteI really like the buttons on that cardi, oh and your outfit is really cute too. :)
ReplyDeleteIf we ever have a blogger meet-up, we can be fraternal twins. You wear this top and I can wear its sister, the striped dress.
And now thanks to you I am hunting ebay for that ring and have a Spice Girls song in my head!!!
such a lovely outfit...i love the color of the cardigan too. and happy new year too!:)
ReplyDeleteWhoa. that necklace is so cool!!! That's awesome that they were able to find things that are your taste and personality.
ReplyDeleteI grew up listening to Simon and Garfunkel and folk (dad)and Motown (mom). I really love most types of music but do not find myself to be a fan of Rolling Stones. I don't know what it is! Oh well, I can still pick their songs out on the radio and I recognized the two lines you posted :)
Oh my gosh, I love this Amy! I am wearing a very, eerily similar outfit today (down to the red flats) and am planning to do a post of it, maybe tomorrow ;) I'm going to feel like a copy-cat though!
ReplyDeleteMy new obsession is stripes. I love your top and blingy necklace.
ReplyDeleteI love all of the stone accents, especially the necklace! I totally want it! Love how you added the red shoes...they really make the outfit!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your stripes!
ReplyDeleteLove that necklace! And I was in high school when the Spice Girls were big. You didn't miss much. :)
ReplyDeleteAmy,
ReplyDeleteI found your blog a few months ago and am just smitten. Your style is flawless and I find myself so inspired by some of the combinations you put together. Your dressed up looks are fantastic, but it's really the dressed down looks that are so fabulous. Effortless, chic, and flawless. Thanks so much for always sharing such amazing OOTD posts!
Just started a new Anthro blog. Please come by and check it out!

I just love your style so much!!
ReplyDeleteLove the stripey top with the cardi. You can easily dress it up with a skirt. So versatile. Love the stones too, but not the Stones, just not my thing. Prefer the Beatles.
ReplyDeleteLove the stripes AND your black nail polish. Very Adam Lambert and very Rock Star! :)
ReplyDeleteHehehe! so funny, my parents used to put on Chinese pop tunes as well when i was younger. I grew up listening to that, but then rebelled in my teens and started to listen to "heavy" music such as Metallica, Nirvana, Tool etc.. I can tell you now that i no longer like listening to these types of music and prefer more mellow tunes :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Rolling Stones aren't too bad, but they aren't on high rotation where i am.
Cute outfit! I especially love your red target flats. wish i could get a hold of them.
I love this striped blouse...and what nice gifts from the bf's family!!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, my fam is super conservative and didn't listen to rock music so I never caught on to the Rolling Stones 'thing' either...and I'm 28 now :( I feel like I've been gipped - haha.
Oh ya, the Rolling Stones are great. LG and I are listening to a ton of Rolling Stones right now. Shut the front door! That necklace is from f21? Looks like I'm going to have to pay the store a little visit.

ReplyDeleteLove the necklace and that's one of my favourite songs. I'll be humming away all night
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your necklace and want one! So pretty! I also love your chairs (can you tell I am in the market for a new table and chairs, since I noticed!) You look beautiful and that striped top goes perfectly with the pants!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this outfit, I always love a good casual outfit for running errands. Love your style! Cute post :)
