I am new to the whole "infinity dress" thing -- you know, the type of dress where you can wrap the top portion in 34752580841348 different ways to create new styles and looks for the one dress. Well, I bought my very first infinity dress (by Tart) off of ideeli about a month ago and finally got it last week. At first I was completely confused and may have even managed to accidentally mummify myself with the two long strips of wrapping fabric before I figured out a way to create a dress bodice that didn't involve ancient Egyptian burial rituals.
I have to say that even though I've only thus far figured out one way of wrapping it, I am a fan!
I opted for a Grecian-style wrapped bodice, complete with some lovely flutter sleeves that the jacket obscured. I'm pretty excited (and afraid) to see what else I can come up with without resorting to looking at an online tutorial.
infinity dress, tart
cropped jacket, diane von furstenberg
monocle necklace, gift
steggy necklace, diy
ring, f21
sandals (not shown), mia

What about you guys? Have you ever owned an infinity-style dress?
I am amazed at how you rock the maxi silhouette! Giving us short gals hope. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never tried an infinity style anything. I can barely tie a scarf around my neck in a presentable fashion!
Yay! I love it on you! I've been on the hunt for a good maxi dress to drag with me to Hawaii, and aren't infinity dresses the best to bring on vacations? You know-ha ha, I AM WEARING THE SAME DRESS ALL WEEK BUT IT LOOKS DIFFERENT SO YOU CAN'T FIGURE OUT IF I'VE BEEN WEARING IT ALL WEEK AND NOW I have a lot more room to stuff my suitcase full of trip souvenirs and shoppy finds.
ReplyDeleteMust, find, this, dress!
I haven't tried it, but I, like Chloe, am looking for one dress to wear a thousand different ways so no one can tell I am wearing the same dress all week long, so my luggage on my vacation is light (BF and I pack *one* suitcase for the both of us). This color looks great on you and I love the leather jacket with it!
ReplyDeleteI really like it! So neat.
ReplyDeleteLovely! I think everybody everywear is doing a maxi dress post this week, you should link this!

Fabulous dress! I have never owned one, but look forward to seeing your remixes!
ReplyDeletelove the look on you!! never owned an infinity dress, but I have been pretty creative with togas back in my college days...LOL
ReplyDeleteThat is my dream of a maxi dress! I love the color! You look beautiful Amy!
ReplyDeleteI ADORE this dress on you!!! I am totally going to check it out!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool dress. The way you have it styled is so classic. You wear the maxi length so well!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to get a DKNY Cozy, which is a cardi that can be worn and wrapped in a different ways. There's an App for it! Maybe there's an App for your dress and that way you can be sly when you switch it up :) I can't wait to see other ways you wear it. The color is to die for. Especially with your skin and hair color.
I was going to order that and changed my mind. It said it came with an instruction book, but that didn't give me any confidence. I love the color on you and you're doing the maxi well, per usual ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis color is gorge and so is the dress on you!!
ReplyDeleteI've always been intrigued by this dress and just a few days ago I was watching Iman on QVC and she debuted a convertible dress that I was so tempted to order. I'm still thinking about it, but your pic definitely makes me want to get one for myself.
I really like it! It reminds of the convertible dress and scarves at american apparel.
ReplyDeleteThe infinity dress sounds like a really cool idea! And I love the way you styled it it...all the accessories really make the beautiful color pop. :D
ReplyDeleteI have a couple infinity dresses, both from American Apparel. I did find it tough to figure out how to style it properly at first, then they came out with a video tutorial. It's been a wardrobe staple for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning outfit Amy, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLOVE infinity dresses. I have a shorter one that's Rachel Pally and there's so many ways to wear it. I love the way this one looks on you and you've styled it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThat's really cute Amy, and its a great color for you! Are there any instructions or tutorials to help you figure out how to wear it other ways?
ReplyDeletetotally smashing! I'm impressed with your wrapping stylings- your pendant is super cute too.
ReplyDeleteDresses that can be worn in a zillion different ways confuse me. I'm the type of person who doesn't know how to wear scarves besides wrapping it around my neck :-) You make the infinity dress look very easy to wear though - and you look so tall and slim in it.
ReplyDeleteCute Dorothy the Dinosaur necklace too!
i can never manage to make those work! i end so frustrated LOL

I'm so sad that I can't see the photos!!! I hope photobuckets fixes this mess soon. Then again, it's my fault for being so behind in blog reading!
ReplyDeleteCome take a look inside A Working Mom's Closet
Love that dress and the color. How tall are you? I'm 5'2 and don't think I can pull that off but just curious.
ReplyDeleteHi CushionPlusStyle! I'm in between 5'2" and 5'3", so it's definitely a possible dress even for shorties! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the reuse of the army green jacket! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! very cute dino necklace btw:)
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled upon this post! I am obsessed with infinity dresses - I have so many I'm actually scared to count. I have Tart, Henkaa, Ravon by Von Vonni, and a random unmarked one I bought on ebay. I love the way you styled your dress with a jacket and necklace to make it super work appropriate but still sexy.
