a hair story

Hello readers! I'm so sorry for the crazy posting schedule here. Things at work have been wackadoodle lately, and since I do my posts during my lunch breaks and I've hardly been taking a real lunch break lately, I'm afraid ke.KE has fallen into neglect.

BUT, I'm here with another OOTD!

dress, anthropologie men's belt, american eagle vara pumps, salvatore ferragamo goldfish ring, f21

I also tried my hand at pin-curling my hair last weekend, which resulted in semi-awesome ringlets. I have a feeling that my hair is just too long to really take advantage of pin curls, but it did look cool thrown up into a bun, pinned here and there, and wrapped with a bandana.

This goes without saying (but I'll say it anyways), but my hair l-o-n-g. It's the first time I've had locks this lengthy since my freshman year of high school. You see, I chopped all of my hair off into a bob my sophomore year in school and it's been short ever since until two years ago, when I finally let it grow out.

The hair I want? THIS:

I know Amy Adams' ringlets in Enchanted are most likely extensions, but I've always coveted long, curly locks like that. (I also always wanted ginger red hair, but that's less likely to happen than the curls) Once I get my hair long enough to hold those curls, I'll finally have princess hair! And it'll be awesome, you guys.

Then, I'll most likely cut it all off again because the maintenance for hair that long must be brutal.

  3. One of your best outfit posts :) I love your hair, and am trying to grow mine out as well. It's a pain, can I just say?! I really get frustrated with it!

  4. You look lovely as ever! Major props on trying out a new style with your 'do...I'm afraid I lack the patience for it!

  5. I have similar-ish hair to you (long/straight/Asian) and it's currently waist-length for the second time in my life. If you like having long hair, please don't be scared of it because it's "high-maintenance"! Especially if your hair is naturally straight, it really is not high-maintenance at all. And I speak as someone who doesn't even use moisturizer most of the time--I'm really that lazy. There are so many quick and easy ways to throw your hair up in a bun; it takes 10-30 seconds in the morning, plus another minute to run a comb or brush through.

  7. Oh, how I love that movie. It's the only live action movie my daughter will sit and watch. :)

I ADORE that dress, especially on you! The cut, the color, everything is perfect on you. Gorgeous!

  8. You look so 50's housewife in the outfit, but in a totally cute and modern way, especially with that adorable ring.

I think your hair looks gorgeous in this pic. However, I also secretly wish to be a red head and I absolutely adore curls (on me and anybody else). I can't wait to see you with princess hair. :)

  9. caffeinerd -- Aww, thanks, lovely lady! ^^

    plastic_fashion -- Thank you!!

Beautygirl24 -- Thanks! And YES, growing out hair is SUCH a pain. I'm always like "AGH, SPLIT ENDS!" which means I have to cut 2 inches of it off, which seems like a step backwards. Ugh. Haha!

Dea -- Haha, it definitely tested my patience. I almost gave up halfway through because my arms got tired!

throughkseyes -- Wow, waist length! My hair isn't actually straight (it's naturally wavy, but not in the nice "beach hair" way) and it's pretty high maintenance all on its own. Sigh. I envy the sound of your hair! I bet it's a lot like my little sister's, which is straight, soft, and silky. Sometimes I wonder why I got the headsuit I did, haha!

    Tara -- Awww, thanks! ^^

Melissa -- I know, isn't that movie so adorable? And thanks!! ^^

fshnonmymind -- Thanks, lovely lady! And the princess hair is in the making, haha! Let's be non-natural red heads together! ;)

  11. I would counter that you already have princess hair. It is so long and lush looking!

  12. Heck yes to the long, curly, red hair. That has been my goal for a long time, too. (Erm, and like you, the first two will be easier to achieve than the third for me.) You look great in your Reed dress, too!

  13. You look fabulous in that dress!!

Um, do you want to swich hair!? I always long dark straight hair, such as yours (or Cher's). I love your length. I'm still growing mine. Once I get a bit more, I'm going in to get some "style" added to it, because right now it's just a mess!!

  14. that dress is fab on you and i just love the belt with it!

i love your hair the way it is! i'm so paranoid about cutting my hair now b/c i cut it short last year and regret it. i'm trying to see how long i can grow it (and just wear it naturally wavy now)

  15. Amy, your hair is one of the best I've seen. I wish we could swap. I'd kill for the fullness!
As for your outfit, it's really lovely. A very flattering shape on you and the colour is gorgeous!

  16. I love how you styled the dress. I have the exact same dress and I'm always looking for new ways to wear it. Love the ring too.

I gave up on long hair for good recently. My hair does this thing where one side curls in and the other side curls out, so it's a pain to style. The curls in the first pic look lovely. =)

  17. I will happily take some of your hair, plz and thank you. It's so darn pretty!

I love that dress on you, espeeeecially the color. So, so pretty!

  18. That dress is lovely and your hair is amazing as is! As a kid I was a total tomboy but I secretly coveted painted nails, high heels, and sausage curls (!). Now I'm too lazy to do manicures (wear off way too fast), am too in love with comfort to wear heels, and yikes, sausage curls? Someday I want to try the Japanese perms, but I am still scarred from my 80s perms phase.

  19. I love your hair, it looks so thick and luscious. I am a fiend for curls, my curling iron is barely out of my hand.

  20. Love the colour of this dress. It's so vibrant and rich. I wish I could be surrounded in this colour.

Also, you have a fabulous head of hair, please don't ever chop it off. I'm in desperate need of a haircut too, but I love my long locks so much, I'm worried that my hairdresser won't understand what a trim means and cut too much off.

  21. Love your waves, super feminine. I am also coveting your fishes ring, I am Pisces and that one is adorable. I wonder if it's still available?
