bruise clues

I took a little tumble over the weekend (nothing serious) (I mean, obviously, seeing as how I'm here blogging) and now I have two disgusting looking bruises on the ol' knee caps. As a result, you'll be seeing me in pants until it heals up, which is kind of a bummer because I'm finding that now that I can't wear skirts, they're the first things I reach for in the morning. Figures.

This is actually what I wore last Friday for a crawfish boil with the coworkers. For those of you uninitiated with a crawfish boil, it's a very Southern Creole thing that involves a stew of corncobs, potatoes, spices, and crawdaddies (aka "mud bugs") (whet your appetite yet?). I initially put on some white jeans in the morning before realizing that crawfish boil = crawfish = shelling by hand = big mess = white jeans are a baaaad choice. I'm glad I worked that one out before stepping out the door, otherwise I would have ended up with some orange splattered white pants for sure.

So, random question time: what's the messiest food that you enjoy chowing down on?

  1. I love the color on that cardi.

Ha ha, silly question for me to answer about food. What DON'T I like?! I think the messiest best thing may have to be the Singapore Chili Crab - partly because of the locale and partly because that sauce is so salty/spicy/sweet delicious.

And hot caramel sauce on vanilla ice cream. Mm, stringy chewy caramel ...

And a greasy cheeseburger - and fajitas - almost anything with melted cheese, especially Swiss ... me so hungee ...

  2. Super cute- you really pull off the fedora trend so well! Messiest food- hmm...probably crab, cuz you really have to get in there to get it all (haha eww, but soo delicious) I'm so befuddled when I'm at a fancy restaurant and they hand me a 2 inch friggin silver toothpick with which to eat a whole bushel of crabs 0.o how does one eat crab without getting one's hands dirty?
Of course I'm super clumsy, so no matter what I'm eating, some of it eventually ends up on my clothes>.<

  4. Hope your bruises heal soon! I actually get bruised very easily, so I understand. The messiest thing I like to eat... hmm... that would be a juicy, juicy burger. Maybe a giant watermelon? I'm a messy eater because once I taste that something is good, i want to shove as much of it as I can in my mouth and chew away!

  12. I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself too badly. You look cute as usual. My favorite messy food would be Maryland steamed crabs...oh, and no white pants allowed when eating them either. LOL.

  13. Very cute look!! Hmm...I really love seafood! Everytime I go back home (to Georgia), my family has a huge "seafood feast" lined up. It's full of food, fun, and laughter. I love it! =)

  15. Good luck w/the knees. Remember aloe when its time. I use the gel stuff if I don't have the plant handy, though I'm sure the latter is more effective. Cute hat! Messiest food...probably crablegs. All that buttah.

  17. I love the fedora with this look! And haha, I am so that girl that wears white jeans to things like this. I've already borrowed the Tide To Go pen my boss keeps in the drawers at work twice since I started my new job.

  18. Fun! I just visited What Would a Nerd Wear, and the bases of your outfits are very similar today, but the looks are quite different, and I love both! :) I want to get a summer hat to keep my dark hair cooler, but haven't found anything right yet. Hope your bruises heal quickly – I bruise very easily (and constantly run into my furniture) so I've always got some bruise or another on one leg or the other.

  19. you look too cute in that hat! what a perfect outfit for a crawfish boil (well, I'm picturing a crab or lobster boil and assuming they're similar events as I've never encountered a crawfish boil, in fact all I think of when people say crawfish is little boys catching them in the creek by my house when I was a child.. gross, actually.)
