blaaaarghy

No photos today because I woke up late and as a consequence, look like a total scrub here in le bureau. One of those days, you know?

It's only 9 a.m. and I'm already wishing for the weekend. That's what a daily one hour commute will do to ya.

Here's something I stumbled upon last weekend and decided that it must be mine:

I love the colors, the sleeves, the pattern... It's like a combination of retro secretary dresses with that grunge calico thing that I love so much. I must have it! MUST! BUT I cannot convince myself to pay for shipping. Not because it's an exorbitant cost or anything, but because I hate paying for shipping in general.

  1. I remember when I had a 1 hour commute, when I was working outside of Boston. I had to leave the house between 6:30-7 to try and beat some of the traffic. Ugh!

That's a cute dress. I've never been to that website before, they have a lot of cute stuff, actually! :)

  2. I agree, I hate paying shipping, too! I always do a full search on google to find any type of shipping reduction or percentage off a site to balance out the shipping. But sometimes I don't mind paying if I'm saving sales tax and it's a big enough purchase to even it out.

  3. Ugh. I have a 1 hour commute as well. It makes me secretly hate going to work.

  6. Tastymoog - Eww, 6:30-7?! No thanks! I used to leave that early my first year of college, but even now, leaving at 8 a.m. makes me irate. And traffic starts at 6 a.m., so there's no use trying to beat it here. Sigh.

Pamela - I do that too, haha! Retailmenot.com is one of my favorites, although now a bunch of stores won't let people post on it. Boo!

    Sarah - Here, here!

Gigiofca - I just feel like that money goes nowhere, even though it technically pays to get the item to me. Grrr.

Kristin - Yeah, the convenience of online shopping is definitely an incentive, and I admit I caved a few times before and shelled out the extra $7 or whatever for shipping. I was never happy about it, though, haha!

  7. My commute is 30 mins but the SHEER AGONY of the speed limit here (~35 mph?) makes me want to take a brick to my head. & see, I have no choice about shipping. If you can find something similar nearby and can live with not having THAT item, why not check around and see if a comparable item is available near you? Then no shipping pmt!

  8. Tatiana - Thanks!

NoJCrewinJapan - 35 mph?! I drive on the freeway here where the speed limit is 60, and I STILL speed! But in the mornings, the speed limit is basically null because there's so much traffic that we're all going 35 anyways. International shipping must be a pain! And believe me, I have looked (and am still looking) for a similar dress here. Someday!

  9. Love lulus! I've found some really great pieces there. Paying for shipping does stink but a few weeks back, they had this offer of a couple bucks off your total order if you signed up for their email list. I did and it pretty much offset the shipping. You definitely need to get this dress!

  10. Rosemary - I love them too! And I love that they're always updating with new merch, although my checking account doesn't love that so much. I'm going to have to look into more promos to offset the shipping because I also think I need that dress!
