I still feel like I'm 12 sometimes

First, let me thank all of you lovely, lovely readers who left such kind words for me in my last post. You're all so sweet, and I literally teared up over how kind and supportive you all were over my stupid little getting-stood-up incident. I am taking the advice so many of you offered, and am having a girl's night out in place of my date. I'm taking a good friend of mine to see the play, and we're going to dress up and have cocktails as well. Perfect! Like my friend said, "I'll be a MUCH more awesome replacement than him!" And I believe her. I'm excited for my Saturday night again!

I just got back from a company dinner, and am pretty shocked that I'm now at the point in my life where I'm attending these. I mean, I still feel like I'm 12 sometimes, and I'm over here having dinner with my coworkers, investors, and CEO. WHOAZ.

I clearly forgot we were having such a big event today, so I'm kind of dressed down. Oops! Luckily, no one seemed to mind. I'm usually the overdressed one at work anyway.

top:
J.Crew wrap cami
J.Crew mystery cardigan
bottom:
Earnest Sewn skinnies
etc:
BCBG Allie flats (these are getting a lot of use, huh?)
Lucky Brand locket
Target ring

Forgive my disheveled appearance. I took these after I came home from work instead of in the mornings before leaving like I usually do. So, you know, I'm kind of exhausted. YAWN.

  2. Oh yay, I'm so glad you have a fun, awesome replacement plan like that! That loser will really be missing out in my opinion!

You look super cute. And definitely dressed up by most people's standards I think, if not by our clothes-horse selves ;) Love your ring btw!

  3. Saturday night sounds like it will be great! GNO (girls night out) is ALWAYS fun!!

I have that wrap top from Jcrew and never though of pairing it with a cardigan! Thanks for the great idea. I love your dark skinnies, too.

I sometimes feel like I, 'what am i doing here' at work, too. I still see myself "in training". It's crazy when people come to you looking for advice on work problems, or when you go to meetings (or in your case company dinners) and are part of a group of important people and surprise---you are one of them! Wow. I guess it means we're grown up!!

  5. Love that cardigan!

I still feel 12 too! People always think I'm still in High School and when I tell them how old I am they never believe me. It's a blessing - we'll look young for a long time.

And I'm very happy to hear you will be having a super fun girls night on saturday! I hope you have a great time.

  8. Angela - Haha, not all guys are jerks, but it seems the ones I get involved with are! Talk about bad luck!

Goldenmeans - Aww, thanks! And you're right, we may think we're underdressed, but to everyone else we're probably way OVERdressed!

Pamela - I guess we ARE grown up! But I'm like you, I still feel like I'm "in training," haha! I haven't had anyone ask me for advice yet, but I'm sure that's a strange feeling. I mean, I'd be like, "Who? Me? You want MY advice??"

Tres Tippy and Summerilla - So true that EVENTUALLY we'll love looking young, haha! At least we have official IDs to prove that we're of age. I still get carded everytime I drink. And when I hand over my ID, it always gets looked at under every light!

Patina - Aww, thanks! I love reading yours too! I definitely get super excited when I see that you've updated!

Stephanie - Oh yes, every gal needs a girl's night once in awhile!

  9. So glad you decided to go with a girlfriend! Can't wait to hear all about it!
Man I wish I looked half as good as you do when I get off work! Usually I have all kinds of body fluids and smells on me, and my makeup is always a hot mess!

  11. Chelsea Talks Smack - Agh, I can't figure out if it's a good or bad thing yet!

Tatiana - Body fluids and smells? Yikes, haha! But hey, that's the medical profession for ya! You're working hard out there, though, so don't be so hard on yourself!

    OneFashionistaDiva - Thanks!

  12. I feel the same way. Just the other day I was talking to my fiancee and I realized...Holey Moley! I'm a grown up! With a car payment!

And then just like that I forgot again.
