The belt was a surprise find at Urban Outfitters. I was there looking at silly hats with Boyfriend when we stumbled across the belts. In true AmyK fashion, what was a trip focused on him quickly became another excuse for me to shop. You know you do it too. Anyhow, the first several version of this belt that we picked up were black and in sizes way too small for my waist.
Which brings me to another point - I don't think I'm the skinniest person out there (because I'm not!) but GEEZ, what size waist does Urban Outfitter's average clientele have?! The S/M sized belts (which I usually am) were ridiculously tiny!
Back on track: After looking at every belt in this design and finding nothing but too-small sizes, I just about gave up before I spied the same buckle on another belt rack. I pulled at it and viola! This seafoam green beauty came out. And in my size. YES! It was meant to be! Unfortunately, Urban Outfitters seems to only have the black version online, so if you want the green one, check your stores!
that skirt is so cute and i love the belt! i spotted someone wearing it at f21 and asked them where they got it
ReplyDeleteI love colorblock - what a great skirt - and one that is long enough from F21! I love that pop of color with the belt.
ReplyDeleteHEY! As a tiny person, I have to tell you that most stores where I used to fit a 0/S/XS? I don't fit in those clothes anymore because they bumped up the sizes to accommodate larger figures. =(
ReplyDeleteSo (pretty pretty) please (with a cherry on top) leave me just one little store that runs a tiny bit smaller than others do. I want to fit in grown-up clothes!
=] Rant aside, I do love this outfit. Really love the colorblock + belt + belt buckle.
Another full skirt, hooray!! I love this outfit, it's super-girly! I have the exact opposite problem with belts from Anthro (although I don't own any UO belts so I can't say how they'd run for me)- the S usually runs so huge on me that instead of cinching my waist it just lucklusterly slouches on my hip :( which sucks, cuz I build a lot of outfits around the hourglass silhouette, and a wide belt is essential to that look.
ReplyDeleteThat belt is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThat belt is great! I love that color.
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit, that belt just makes it pop!
ReplyDeleteRosa - What a coincidence, haha!
ReplyDeleteLisa - I know, right?! If only all F21 skirts were this length on me. Then I wouldn't ever have to worry about wind again!
J - Aww, sorry to hear that vanity sizing has you sized out! That really is a bummer! And I actually don't have an issue with UO's clothes fit - they all fit fine! I was just surprised at how TIGHT their size "S/M" belts were when their S/M tops fit me perfectly! Why is that?!
Tara B - I find that Anthro's belts run small too. I have to wear a S in belts in that store when I usually am a S/M in other stores. You should definitely check out OU's belt selection - maybe they can provide your wide belt needs!
sarah, Tien, Ro - Thanks!
What an adorable outfit and I totally love that skirt and am surprised at the length coming from f21!! Awesome pairings and you are the queen of belting everything and making it look effortless. The seafoam color is the best!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit Amy! I love colorblock (as you know), so I think that skirt is awesome and I need that mint belt in a bad way - you know me and mint ;-) I'll have to go look at UO since I don't see mint online.
ReplyDeleteCute belt, the color is very nice.
ReplyDeleteThe skirt & belt are makin' me all envious----love them! :)
ReplyDeleteDEA - I know, it IS a bit long coming from F21! I guess there's hope for that store after all... Thanks for the compliment about belting! If I'm the queen, then I must share the throne with some other belting champs out there like Kim and Chloe!
ReplyDeleteKim - Ohhh yes, I know about your love for colorblock and mint! In fact, so much so that when I first saw this belt, I thought of you! You will forever be associated with mint in my mind, haha!
Monique, caffeinerd - Thanks!
LOVE the belt. Urban has such cute stuff, but I'm always too impatient to really dig through it all! I love clothes, but hate shopping...not exactly a good combo for discovering great finds :/

I must have that belt! I rarely go into UO, but I think I'll make a special trip to look for it.
ReplyDeleteseafoam is one of my favorite colors. :)
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing that skirt at forever 21, dang, I wish I had it now after seeing how you styled it.
ReplyDeleteThat belt is too cute- I think I need to branch out from my predictable black/brown belt syndrome!
that belt is awesome possum! i totally want it in the seafoam color. and just based on your appearance i find it disturbing the s/m was too small for you!
ReplyDeletevery cute - i love full skirts but i never wear them!
ReplyDeleteFYI i commented a while ago RE: your ruffled gamine jacket review. i have been wearing mine nonstop and i hope you've been getting good use out of yours! :)
I love that belt, great find. I finally picked up a ruffled celosia cardigan today. Seeing how you styled yours made it a must have for me!
ReplyDeleteYou and your fabulous belts. LOVE that!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great color! I no longer work near an Urban Outfitters or else I know I'd be there at the belt rack tomorrow. Perhaps over the weekend?...
