birthday plaid

Today's my birthday, readers! I'm pretty excited, even though it's on a - ugh - Monday and I'm spending a good 8 hours of it at the office. Still! Boyfriend and I are going out to a nice dinner tonight and I'm very, very curious as to what he got me as a gift. I'm usually pretty good at guessing what anyone's going to get me present-wise because, let's face it, most people I know are not very good at keeping those types of things a secret. And I also have mad prying skills, bwahahaha... But this time around, my Sherlock Holmes-ing haven't been doing me much good because Boyfriend's been surprisingly (and frustratingly, haha) tight-lipped about the gift. Hmmmmm...

I love this shirtdress. The only problem is that all that plaid can be a little overwhelming on a petite gal like me, so I needed to find a way to break up the pattern. Adding a cardigan and a wide belt is a great way to do so, but as the weather warms up, I'll have to ditch the cardigan completely unless I want to broil (which I don't). Maybe by then, I'll have worked up enough nerve to wear this dress with only a wide belt to break up the wall-o-plaid. We'll see.
