sailor stripes, meet sailor dots

I noticed that I had lost 2 followers today, bringing me back down to just shy of 300 followers. I guess that's what I get for not posting regularly enough, haha! But I'm not bummed about it -- I'm still just so happy that there are so many lovely people out there who, for whatever reason, keep coming back to see what I'm wearing!

I hope that I've been able to show (and am continuing to show) short, stumpy, booty-licious, Asian, petite, whatever gals everywhere that even though we're not the ideal 6-foot-tall, rail-thin-with-mile-long-legs consumer, we can still have fun dressing ourselves every morning. I know I do!

(Except for days when I realize that due to my lack of will to iron, my entire wardrobe is as wrinkled as Christian Bale's brow during the entire Terminator Salvation movie)

sailing stripes blouse, anthropologie [x]
lace-trim cardigan, just ginger
dotted skirt, j.crew [x-ish]
striped wedges, lela rose for payless
studded leather belt, j.crew [x]
duchess cocktail ring, j.crew

I got this skirt off of eBay. I have no idea what season it is from, but thanks J.Crew for putting out an adorable polka-dotted pencil skirt! As you can see, I don't care much about fashion "rules." I'm committing one big one here: pairing black with navy. I figure that doing so is perfectly permissible as long as you pair it in a way so that it is obvious that you meant to pair black and navy together. This pairing is only questionable when it seems like you mistakened one hue for the other, which I admit has happened to me before. ("I swear these shoes looked like black! Then again, I did get dressed in the dark...")

Happy weekending, everyone!

  1. This is the most inspirational outfit I've seen all summer, Amy! Absofreakingly fantastic! I've not wanted to replicate an outfit more! Wow, can I be any more excited?! The studs, the plaid, the stripes. Just love. You knocked my socks right off with this one.

  3. Um... I didn't mean plaid, I meant polka dots. Please excuse my allergy-induced sickness.

  4. Tien - Awww, thanks! I know you can make your own version of this and look stunning in it!

Kim - Thanks! The cardigan is from Nordstrom. I got it 2-3 years ago, but it reminds me a lot of Anthro's Field Game cardigan!

  10. I started ironing again last week... there is NO good spot for an ironing board! I hate lugging it back and forth! Wrinkled clothes are SO much easier for me :) I don't know how you come up with such cute outfits!

  11. Haha, you are so brave for doing black with navy, you know I can't. Everytime I've tried it I always look like I got dressed in the dark or my laundry faded -- maybe my navy is too dark? Regardless, you look great!

  16. Such a well-constructed outfit Amy, I adore it! The skirt stuck out at first, but then the cardi took over, and then the sailor top took 1st place, but quickly overturned by the adorable shoes!! Too much stimulation for me that's for sure! You look fab and I get so inspired by your looks that completely don't realize you're a few inches shorter. That's how inspirational you are, that the focus is on the presentation, not your specific physical characteristics!!
