a little 50s, a little grunge

Sometimes I put together an outfit and realize afterwards that I'm wearing a color combination that reminds me of something else. Like today. Purple and green? Those are the signature colors of this guy:

Nice. At least I don't wear white face paint.

reed shirtdress, anthropologie [x-ish] [x-ish]
rugby stripe cardigan, gift [x-ish] [x-ish]
wide belt, calvin klein
'allie' flats, bcbg
black ribbed tights, xhilaration
duchess stone cocktail ring, j.crew

The sweater always reminds me of Kurt Cobain, probably because of his affinity for stripes (albeit not purple ones) and cardigans. The dress, however, is more I Love Lucy than Smells Like Teen Spirit. I don't have a problem with that.

Also? I am in need of a blog makeover. I intend to finally sit down and work something out Thanksgiving week when I finally have some free time (hopefully)! So, be excited -- change is a-coming!

  2. Lol, well luckily you look nothing like the Joker. You are a master at mixing up some colors and I love the retro looking dress.

Can't wait to see the new changes!

  10. This is a great outfit, no joke :)

The fun cardigan keeps it from feeling too 50's housewife-not that that's a bad thing, but sometimes it's nice to change up the look of a piece. this is definately a winning combo

  11. You'd be too young to remember but the purple and green combo was all the rage in the 90s. I had a dark purple plaid shirt that I wore with a hunter green waffle tee. Then there was the green jacket with purple lining... You look very cute and au courant :)

  12. Purple and green. I thought for sure the picture was going to be Barney (the dinosaur). You don't look like Barney either. Super cute outfit.
