I had a close-up photo of my nails, but then decided to spare you all from a sudden loss of appetite. My hands look kind of gross super close-up, thanks to the dry winter air, lots of hand and dish washing, and a disturbing lack of concern about what abuse I put my little paws through. But I just wanted to show off just how SPARKLY they are! I painted my nails with clear polish then dipped them in a tiny little tub of glitter and finished it off with another coat of clear polish. I am serious about my holiday sparkles, people. But I have a feeling I'll be finding glitter lurking in all corners of my apartment until next Christmas. Scary.
Also, I have to brag about this sweater. I've been wanting to scope out the Arrow since seeing Slastena rock just about 32984571714 different outfits with it. But I had never gotten around to ordering it. Then, this past weekend, Boyfriend and I took a trip to the J.Crew Outlet and I found this sweater hanging in the clearance section. Marked down to $59.99. After a quick inspection and finding nothing wrong with it, I tried it on and fell in love. It is ridiculously comfortable, soft, and warm, and the styling is clean and unfussy without being too plain. I highly recommend. But that's not all. The outlet store was also having an "extra 40% off clearance" special, so this sweater rung up to be $36.00. And with my $25 rewards card? I snagged it for $11. Heck. Yeah.
Wow, $11?!?! What a steal for such a great sweater! I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I now own this sweater in 3 colors: heather elm, caramel, and charcoal...and...I want it in the lighter grey color. Obsessed much? Yeah.
ReplyDeleteAmy! I absolutely love LOTR. I think I have mentioned before my argument with a friend about the 5 wizards of middle earth. I have read Harry Potter more times than I can count, but The Sound and the Fury is probably my most read book. Maybe also The Great Gatsby. I love reading, and I will anything I can get my hands on.
ReplyDeleteI love this the comfort of this outfit, that it's laid back, and yet refined. I used to want glasses so bad as a child, I faked my eye exam. I had to stop wearing them because I kept getting headaches. I still want them, but stupid good vision. I am the only one in my family who doesn't wear glasses. They are the perfect finishing touch to any outfit.
now i regret that i did not buy this color!!!
ReplyDeleteSo many books I keep rereading over and over again. All the twilight books and now all the Hunger game books. If you haven't read the hunger games book please do it. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteps I'm getting my nails all glittery this week and I CANNOT wait!
What!! Congrats on the cardigan, and the price...unbelievable. I love and do plan to get it. Oh, and I can't believe your creativity! I actually bought glitter red nail polish...never even thought of a DIY.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit ~ it makes me wish I was home, in a super comfy cardi w/leggings instead of at work in a skirt and heels. Boo. I'm so jealous you have a jcrew outlet - we're desperately in need of one here. No such luck yet, but the Jcrew final sale with the extra 30% off is a pretty sweet deal. :) I might have to snag that tuxedo shirt - I've been eyeballing it for weeks now and it looks so cute on you!
ReplyDeleteI love rereading books. I feel like I really get inside the characters' heads after visiting them a few times. :) And yes, glasses = smarty pants. I feel invariably smarter when I'm wearing my spectacles.
ReplyDeleteI bought the LOTR compilation but never made it past page 17 - this is one of those cases where watching the movies before reading the book completely ruined the books for me. I was all like, "hells-to-the-nah, Frodo can't be in his 40s before he goes on his quest" and that kind of stuff.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I am into another kind of "smart people-dom": back in the day I was all about Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, The Queen of the Damned. I read those things 'til the backs of the books broke and then I bought back up copies!
Amy, I love your outfit today!! So classic and pretty. Great buy on that sweater girl!!! Come over to my blog and read about the boots I snagged today! I am soooo happy!
ReplyDeleteA J.Crew sweater for $11? That's got to be a record!

You spent $11 on that sweater? You're my hero.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm in total love with glitter, so I understand the need for sparkly nails! Besides, I have a 3 year old daughter, we do have glitter in every corner of our house! :)
LOVE getting deals like that!! Good job :) And I think you look far too sophisticated for a college campus- I'm just jaded by what the students at UT wear (nike shorts with ugg boots).
ReplyDeleteOMG. You should get the JCA Bargain Hunter Award of the Year! $11??? Crazy! But awesome! Cute outfit too!
ReplyDeleteI've read LOTR a few times as well. Another book that I just pick up and re-read is Pastwatch by Orson Scott Card. Then there's anything by Isaac Asimov. Of course Dune by Frank Herbert too...I'm such a SciFi geek, and have glasses to prove it!
That sweater looks so cute and comfy, I love it!
ReplyDeleteYou look so incredibly adorable in glasses. I love it :)
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable! Bookish is awesome. I have read LOTR and Harry Potter more times than I can count, but the book that I have read most often is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I have gotten something a little different out of it each time I have read it too.
ReplyDeleteI adore your new header!
ReplyDeleteAhhh....JCrew for $11....I am beaming for you....
Now off to use my one time 30% off a purchase with free shipping that they are offering cardholders....they get me.every.single.time.
What a steal for that sweater! I have it black and green and love them both.
ReplyDeleteI do have a book that I have read over and over and over.
Confessions of a Shopaholic.
and I laugh every time.
I have been looking for a sweater like that but I haven't been so lucky as you. But I keep searching :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I keep re-reading Harry Potter. I don't consider myself a huge fan of the whole wizard thing but I am a huge fan of how the story is being told and the characters. For me, it's not a story about magic but a very well written story about youth, loyalty and love. Rowling did a very good job :)
Lol, you remind me of myself a while back. I used to read and re-read Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre over and over ( I wonder why, since I had already literally memorized it!). I guess I just got some sort of thrill out of it - who knows. Wish I could still do that, but these days, with baby, school, chores, & hubby, there's hardly time for that :(
ReplyDeleteCongrats on scoring the arrow sweater for that much! You've styled it wonderfully too! I need to find time and make it to the outlet one of these days. :)
i love your sparkly nail polish...you are so creative! and sorry about your car...if it's any consolation i've hit more than my shares when it comes to columns. parking garages are seriously my worst nightmare:)
