Also, be prepared to see Boyfriend in the background of these. Sometimes he doesn't want to sit outside in "The Men's Waiting Area" at Anthropologie, so instead he chooses to hang out in the dressing room with me. Men.
Enjoy!
YES. I love this blouse. Love love love. It is definitely on my "to stalk until sale time" list because I just don't feel comfortable dropping nearly $100 for a top, but I will probably love it for a sale price. It runs pretty true to size, though you could ostensibly size up without much issue if you want it to look slightly more loose. Bottom-heavy girls beware, though -- this top has a straight cut, so I had trouble buttoning the last button in both a size 2 (my regular top size and the one shown here) and a size 4, but if you plan to tuck this blouse in like I did, then that won't be an issue.

The material is a lovely silk that felt so soft and comfortable on. The tie part at the neck is removable, but I think it looks awesome so I can't see why anyone would remove it, haha! I can also see this working beautifully with pencil skirts and belted with full skirts.

Esmerelda Dress, $158:
YES. This one was Boyfriend's pick, which I obligingly tried on and surprisingly loved! I'm usually a size small in these types of dresses, but the small in this one was a little snug. I really struggled to put it on and take it off, hahaha! There are no zippers, so it's just a slip-on type of deal. Sizing up to a medium made the dress too big, though. Hmm... The shape was really flattering. It has a nice empire waist, a neckline that isn't too scandalous for those with smaller chests (those who are more endowed may need a cami), and beautiful flutter sleeves. I love this length of flutter sleeve because instead of hitting at the meatiest part of my arm, it extends below it so that it looks slimmer. Always a plus! And though it looks like it extends below the knee in the pictures, the dress hits right at the knee on my 5'3" frame. I'll definitely be stalking this.

Cadet jacket, $128:
YES. I loved this on Boyfriend and I think it's a great casual jacket for men. It touches on that utilitarian/military look that's all the rage right now without looking too trendy, too. Though the jacket looks brown in this photo, it most definitely is the shade of green shown on the J.Crew website in real life. This runs true to size, as Boyfriend took his usual large in it. In his words, the jacket is "light, comfortable," and the arm holes "actually fit [his] arms and shoulders," unlike most of the jackets he has tried on from Gap and Urban Outfitters. I'll be sale-stalking this one for him, you can be sure of that!
See you all tomorrow with an OOTD!
Oooh I saw the green shirt on my last trip to Anthro and thought it looked stunning, but didn't even try it on because it looked like it ran big. Now I must go try it on! And I love that the bf is now trying stuff on for the blog too! Could this be a new feature on the blog, hmmm?
ReplyDeleteTara -- You should definitely try it on, I bet you'll love it! I can see you pairing it with some of the wonderful pencil skirts you already own, too! And maybe I can convince him to try on more things for the blog... maybe it'll help out the readers looking at stuff for the men in their lives, haha! Though he's also ridiculously picky about what he will and will not TRY on. It's like he's convinced that cardigans will give him a rash.
ReplyDeleteThat blouse is amazing - another thing to add to my list of "possible pretties for the end of the Shopping Ban." And that jacket is GREAT. I love it! I want one for my husband!
ReplyDeleteI love the blouse on you, and that dress is super cute too. Love that your BF is participating. Tell him my BF would give his eyeteeth for that Thor tee he's sporting ;)
ReplyDeleteThat blouse is beautiful on you! Such a great color! I remember seeing it online, but now I must add it to my list of things I must try on next time I make it to the store. And you look fabulous in the dress...very pretty! By the way, your bf must be a very patient man. He looks so calm and happy in the background. My husband would NEVER wait around while I tried things on.....and if he did, he'd be sure to have a "hurry up, let's get out of here" look on his face, lol!
ReplyDeleteYou look so fabulous in that green top...love it on you! You must get it!!! I agree though, I always like things so much beter when they hit sale. I walked through my J Crew the other day briefly and it was so empty in the sale area...sad.
ReplyDeleteI love your hair! Mine's usually up in a ponytail which is better for work, but I love the messy curls/waves look. Great jacket for BF, a great sale stalking item.
ReplyDeleteOh my---love the blouse and dress! The green is fabulous on you. And the jacket definitely looks stalkworthy :)
ReplyDeleteI love the Cadet jacket. I bought my hubby a similar jacket and it's such a great staple to have. I also love how your BF is sitting with you in the dressing room. Signs of a good man.
ReplyDeleteHope you're enjoying the snow you guys have gotten!
Bahahaha! I love that your BF is smiling in the back of your pictures but is half cut out of the shot :) Makes it so cute that he is waiting there with you. Loves it! The green blouse looks amazing on you and you should def get it if it goes on sale (98$ is pretty steep!) so precious tho! Thanks for sharing!

Yes, I think Boyfriend should try more stuff on for the blog. This would be very helpful for me in buying clothes for LG. Plus, Boyfriend's facial expressions are hilarious! I also agree that the green blouse looks fab on you :)

How very patient of your BF! He's such a sweetie to wait for you while you try on things :-) And as for that jacket, it's something my DH would wear! That would be a great venture actually - a blog dedicated to menswear!
ReplyDeleteI love that blouse on you, it looks great with jeans, but I can also see it working for the office as well.
Both the top and the dress look fabulous on you. You sold me on the green blouse, it looks great with your dark hair. But I agree...it's definitely wishlisted for sale time. Your BF is so cute ~ he cracks me up in the background photos! ~Susan
ReplyDeleteI like how BF was all smiles when you tried on his pick!! I love the sleeves on that dress.
ReplyDeleteThe green blouse is so classic. I saw it the last time I was at the store. It's such a good shade of green, too.
I love it when you do these picks with your BF- so cute! I love both on you. Dress is super cute! Your hair looks fab!
ReplyDeleteI saw this blouse at the store the other day but just sort of passed it by. Now that I see it on you I have a new interest in it. It looks so beautiful on you, especially with your hair. Can I just say that I enjoy your hair so much? The waves you create always look so lovely and romantic.
ReplyDeleteThis has nothing to do with this post (I do love the green color of that blouse on you though), but I went to Forever 21 yesterday and searched high and low for that pleated skirt you wore the other day and couldn't find it anywhere! I did get a cute $11 sweater out of the deal though, but that store still drives me crazy! I'm hoping I'll find it at another store this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reviews, that top looks great on you! I love your all of the expressions your BF has in the photos. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you tried on the blouse because I just couldnt tell from looking online! It looks beautiful... thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSomething about that dress caught my eye online. I think it's the rich mixture of colors. So gorgeous! Couldn't find it on my last trip though! I'll have to do some serious searching next time!

ADORABLE!!! You should make your BF take pix of your outfits if he's in the fitting room with you. :) Love that cadet jacket!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on J.Crew. These days visiting the B&M is always a total disappointment - especially now, the stores are so dry and the merchandise totally unappealing. I love that Anthro blouse on you. Thanks for the review, I don't think I loved it at all when I saw it online (if I had even noticed it). The color, print, and style are all great, and I'll definitely also be stalking it :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way I had to go pull out something yellow from my closet yesterday and take pics after being so inspired by your last post! Thanks again!
omigosh that dress is gorgeous on you! the BF has good taste;)
ReplyDeleteI gotta say, that Esmerelda dress has NEVER jumped out at me, but it looks totally fantastic on you. Thanks for the great review!
ReplyDeletei love the green blouse...i've been looking for these pussybow blouses. guess spring will bring them.
