a citron return

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd we're back in action. Whew! I'm still hoping to add a few menu buttons to the sidebar to clear some of that clutter up, but in the meantime, enjoy the welcome change from my previous winter-themed blog header!

To answer some curious inquiries, the header graphic is a drawing I did of my beloved Rebecca Minkoff "Morning After" bag, with a handsome little lovebird perched on top. I scanned it in to my computer, colored it in Photoshop, and then presto! A snappy new graphic is born.

And now, the OOTD:

daisy eyelet blouse, j.crew
woven belt, mom's
sandals, mia
bangles, kate spade + from china
nest ring, etsy
monocle necklace, gift

I have the hardest time wearing this blouse because of the color. In fact, the last time I wore it was two years ago. Yeesh. It's a bright citron, like an old highlighter, so I never know what to pair it with. On this day, I decided to just go bold and play that puppy up with an orange-y red skirt. Topping it with the long gray cardigan helped to tone it down and prevent the ensemble from looking too 'Lady Ronald McDonald's Amazing Technicolor Outfit.'

At least I hope so.

  10. This blouse is such a bright color and it is so pretty. I love how you paired it with the orange, but it looks good broken up with the gray cardi. That's better than I would have come up with. I can only imagine it with whites and blues.

  11. Love the long skirt! And you really did a great job pairing that bright shirt. Those are the best days when you take something out you haven't worn for awhile; it's like shopping in your own closet. =) I can't wait to see more outfits with this shirt!

  12. I am speechless about your drawing skills! Wow you are amazing Amy. And good to have you back. Hehe... I fear looking like r McDonald when I wear yellow and red. The grey cardi is perfect and breaks it up a bit. You rock maxis like no other.

  14. Oh, great stuff! I think an orange skirt must be the most THE thing to have this spring. I love your vibrant colour combo with the citron. I wore my Field scout skirt today for the first time in months and quite enjoyed its 'Day-glo' quality (I only paired it with a safe cream blouse though- next time I'll have to be more adventurous!!)

  15. I love the new header, Amy! Wow, such skill! Well done. ^_^ You look terrific - I just bought a flourescent yellow scarf at F21 last week (it seemed like a good idea at the time), and now I have to figure out how to style it, haha. At least I know it can be done!
