neutral city

After all that orange from the past 2 outfits, I felt compelled to reach for colors that with less POW! I ended up dressed entirely in neutrals, though I didn't mean for that to happen. During morning when I am especially foggy-brained, I just get dressed entirely on auto-pilot and don't even notice what I'd put on until I get to the office (and it shows, guys, it shows). I am not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination.

The quirky map print on the cardigan kept things from looking too bland, though. At least, that's what I'd like to think.

bow neck shirt, ann taylor loft
cartography cardigan, anthropologie
skinny zipper cords, j.crew
glitter flats, steve madden
studded belt, j.crew

Guys. I miss my jeans. And my pencil skirts (though I don't miss that terrible head suit I had going on, yeesh) (not that my current hair is any better) (I need a haircut). It's been a while since I've ballooned out so much that I can't comfortably wiggle into them anymore. But, the good news is that realizing that I miss my past wardrobe staples has re-ignited my drive to shed some pounds. I need those things back in rotation!

After all, I'm sure you're all sick of seeing me wear the same 3 pairs of pants. I know I'm sick of it. Strangely, I used to have a pair of jeans that I could fit into, but in the past 2 weeks, I've lost enough weight to make them way too big, rendering me denim-less for the time being -- stuck in limbo between fitting into my "fat jeans" and fitting back into my "pre-fat jeans."

Now, the next installment of the 30 Day Song Challenge --

Day 5: A Song That Reminds You of Someone

Ah, middle school. In actuality, every Goo Goo Dolls song reminds me of one of my best friends in middle school -- she was a huge fan. We saw a show together, and we still go on nostalgia trips about the good ol' GGD every time we meet up. Her fandom got me into them too. The Goo Goo Dolls' "Slide" was the very first song I learned how to play on the guitar, and my Fender Stratocaster is named after the front man (Rzezzy for John Rzeznik). My acoustic guitar is named after a Backstreet Boy, but that's a story for another time.

Are there any songs that remind you of someone?

  3. I love how your neutrals still look interesting and fun. The cardi and scarf and belt are such great details that really stand out against the neutral colours.

  5. Random, but Teitur's "You're the Ocean" reminds me of a guy I was involved with through most of college and part of the year after. I put it on a mix CD for him and every time I hear it, it reminds me of a drive we took through wine country. That, and "Take me as I am" by Wyclef and someone else.

    PS: You look great!!
