giveaway!

As promised, I have a GIVEAWAY for my wonderful readers to enter in! Seeing as how winter is finally coming around, and the weather here is finally dipping below the balmy 90s, I am giving away two of the things that I love most about winter's arrival: scarves and tights! Or, in this case, a scarf and tights!

Take a peek at the swag:

The tights are brand new from Hue, a great brand that makes super soft tights in an array of festive colors. These particular ones are in Bordeaux, a red-wine color with purple-y undertones. They're perfect for those who are looking to experiment in colored tights because the shade pairs nicely with a lot of other colors and are also not too crazy bright. I bought a pair for myself too, and you can see them worn in tomorrow's OOTD! They're in a size 2, which fits heights 5'3" to 6', and weights 120 to 170 lbs.

The scarf is from J.Crew, and I got it last year (I think?) but only wore it maybe three times. I think it deserves a better owner who can really show it some love! It's relatively thin and light, but can be wrapped a bit tighter for extra warmth.

To enter, leave your name, email, and something you love about the holidays in the comments for this post. I'll use random.org to pick a winner next Sunday at noon. Good luck!

  2. I looooove winter food--warm soups and stews, pumpkin pies, and roasted squash.

I also love decorating the house for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have a gigantic collection, really entirely too much of Thanksgiving/Christmas decorations.

I love when the regular radio station begins their 24/7 christmas music marathon on Thanksgiving day until Chirstmas day. A very close second is stopping in at Starbucks for a hot drink and a cranberry bliss bar.

  10. Great giveaway! My favorite thing...gosh there are so many. My family always watches Christmas Vacation (with Chevy Chase) every year. Classic. I also just really love that warm feeling, whether it be from the fireplace, a cozy blanket, or snuggling up to someone you love. Yay holidays! :)

  11. I've always loved the magic and excitement of the first snow and shopping for gifts for my family! Seeing as I just moved to Texas, I'm finding it hard to get into the Christmas spirit, and afraid that the magic feeling that comes around every year will be missing :(

  14. Hi, sweet Amy Kelinda:

I see the tights will fit me (usually all you gals are so much smaller than me, which means some of the giveaway items are too small), so I am excited to enter!!! YAY! What a great giveaway!

My name is dinagideon...e-mail: dinagideon AT aim DOT com...

and my favorite thing about the holidays? I love that the DC area turns into a virtual ghost town because all the non-locals (read 90% of the population) return to their "homes" (in quotes because some of the folks who leave to go home haven't lived there in YEARS). Because I am a native of the DC area, it means the only ones who have stuck around for the holidays are other natives...and this is the ONE time of year that the DC area feels more like a regular community and less like a mish-mash of a million different folks trying to eek out a place to live and work.

My answer is very odd, yes, but it is the thing I look most forward to...

My most normal answer is my number two favorite and that is seeing my kids open their presents and delight in their contents!!! :) That is JUST beyond awesome!

  19. So much to love at this time of year! The crisp cold air, all the lovely sweaters I get to wear, gingerbread lattes and Starbucks, watching repeats of "Home Alone" on tv...

But my absolute favorite is the turkey jook that my family makes the day after Thanksgiving and the day after Xmas. We use the leftover turkey carcasses to make a thick congee and it's heavenly.

  22. I love the fact that *finally* I can get out my "Christmas Pod" and not be scolded for being seasonally inappropriate in my choice of music (all 26.73GB worth of Christmas Christmas Christmas!) Other loves: pine-scented *duh!* pine trees in the house, Christmas cookies, vintage Shiny Brite Christmas ornaments, snow, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation on the television, Christmas lights in the Christmas-themed jukebox, and my favoritist drink concoction of all: eggnog + orange sunkist + whipped cream. 25. Pleasepleasepleaseplease let this be open for us Canadians too!

What I love about the holidays:
I don't care so much about the presents, or that it's Christmas.

I don't actually give or get presents, but I love the FEELING of everyone around me.

They're all running around with huge smiles on their faces, excited as hell for their own holidays, and that kind of rush, gets me high too.

There's a magic in the air that only the holidays can bring, and when you add a Starbucks Red Cupped drink (Chai Latte is my poison), it can only get better.

Thank you so much for doing this!!!

    Here's my contact info.

  26. The holidays for me is all about the cooking.

The food is always a huge feast (one year we had a sushi buffet, to break from tradition)

And everyone gets to loosen their pants and stuff themselves on stuffing, while hanging out with all of their family members

  40. Hooray for giveaways! Like most peeps, I LOVE holiday food. What's really great is that I usually scarf down two dinners--we celebrate first with my family and then head over to my BF's parents. YUM! I also adore super cheesy holiday commercials, especially the ones pulled out of the 80's vault-- Folger's commercial when kid comes home from college and surprises everyone with a fresh pot of coffee? Makes me tear up every time!
