the garland cami gets fresco-ed

Look at the lovely top I found during a weekend trip to the J.Crew Outlet (and please ignore my goofy "looking in the camera while taking a photo" face):

topped with a cardigan

Does this look familiar? It's J.Crew's garland cami in the fresco print from last spring! See?

And here's the tag for anyone who's interested:

The quality is great, just like on the regular garland cami. I found that it runs slightly big because of the straight cut, so I'd size down to avoid looking like you're swimming in the fabric. For the record, I typically wear a size 2-4 in tops, or S. I definitely want to snag this, but I'll be waiting for it to go on sale since J.Crew's outlet stores seem to have sales pretty often. Let's hope I'm right in predicting that this top will see a promotion soon!

There was also a rack with cardigans donning the fresco print as well, but I wasn't really attracted to the way it looked. In my opinion, the print looks better printed on silk, but the outlet cardigan may be a good substitute to those who missed out on the fresco cardigan from last year.

I also stopped by Ann Taylor Loft and picked up two dresses, so stay tuned for those tonight!

  1. Ahh. I had that SAME shirt in my hand to buy this weekend but past on it. Boo to full price so I am waiting for a sale too. The only thing I did buy was the dress in this print because it was $10 off and I just had to have it. $10 off - with student discount is better than nothing!

Let me know if you catch this on sale and I'll do the same for you. My store only had 1 XS when I was there.

  2. Oh snap! I wish I had a crewlet near me! My garland cami is one of my fall back faves! If you go back and feel like helping a sister out I'll paypal you asap. I'm a 2/4, too!

  4. So I had bought the fresco in the tank last year, but never found an opportunity to wear it (I didn't like the way it was cut), so I finally returned it in early January (thank goodness I had the receipt).

I have the fresco in that gorg tunic, but I must say I like the garland cami. Very cute on you.

Maybe I will find a reason to get to an outlet soon. The price is a bit prohibitive, though, so I probably should hold off for a few weeks!

    Thanks for the review!

  5. Welcome back! Love the cami with the cardi over it. The colors are so pretty together. I've been contemplating buying the fresco cardi on ebay, but now that I've seen the cami on you, I too think the print looks better on silk. However, J.Crew shirts and camis run HUGE on me :(

  6. So cute! I love the Fresco print...it's preppy without being TOO pink and green. Very summery and fresh. Hence, "fresco," I guess! :)

  7. Wait. Where the hell is there a J.Crew outlet around these parts?

  8. Summerilla - There was a dress in this print? I must have missed it! And good deal, I'll let you know if this goes on sale! And if you need an XS, my store had a bunch so I can hook you up!

ESW - It's too bad there's not one near you. I'll definitely let you know if I go back anytime soon. Do you mind paying full price for it (if I go and it's still full price) or would you rather wait for a sale like me? Let me know!

Rosa in DC - It really is! I was pleasantly surprised that J.Crew brought it back.

dinagideon - You should definitely snatch it up when it goes on sale! I loved the fresco tunic on you, so I think the garland will look great on you also!

Tara B. - I think the colors are more vibrant on silk. It's too bad that J.Crew's camis and shirts run huge on you! Do you normally wear a size 0? Because I know that J.Crew's sizing tends to be kind of big, thanks to vanity sizing (or not thanks to it, really).

AppGal - I agree! Pink and green can be way too preppy, but this does it right!

  10. i went to the outlets this weekend and was kind of bummed b/c the sale section was small. post-xmas pre-spring rollout void. i did see that silk cami, though, and it looks great on you!

  11. I love the way the Crewlet makes combos of great prints and styles. The color is very nice on you, especially with the cardi. I would have never thought to pair those two together but they look great. The price is a little high. I don't think I would spring for FP but on sale, maybe!! & you and AppGal are right, this does not come across as preppy. I love the look.

  12. I like the cami with your bling cardigan. I have the Fresco cardigan from last year but the cami looks more versatile. I hope there's a sale soon, too a bit too much FP for outlet stuff.

  13. I love that cami in the Fresco print. Can't wait to see your Loft dress reviews. I was in the other day returning something and saw all the new dresses and they were very drool worthy. Unfortunatly my hubby was with me so there was no way I could try them on (he hates shopping).
