THE PECAN TANGO

I feel a sore throat coming on, guys, which is never a good sign. Usually when this symptom rears its ugly head, it means that The Sick is a-coming and there is nothing I can do about. No amount of vitamin C supplements, hours of sleep, or cans of sacrificial Dr. Pepper poured onto the ground can convince The Sickness gods to not wage war against my body. It is done. The white flag is up and now I just feverishly (sometimes quite literally) await the inevitable.

(I can be kind of dramatic at times. You should've seen me when I got food poisoning a few years ago -- I'm pretty sure a member of the Academy came to my house and tried to give me an Oscar.)

I didn't wear anything particularly thrilling, so here is an outfit from last weekend instead:

ruffle cami, j.crew
jenna's cardigan, j.crew
a separate space skirt, anthropologie
berry bush tights, anthropologie
kinnetic flats, steve madden
leatherette belt, f21
ring, f21
gold bangle, kate spade

Yeah, my nail polish was really chipped in these photos. I can never find any incentive to maintain them after I initially paint them. Laziness.

  1. I love love love your outfit, esp. the skirt. Get well soon OK? When I feel a sick coming on, I ususally take Cold FX, which is a combo of ginseng, echinacea and other herbs. Take a day off and just stay in bed, you'll get better quicker. :)

  2. Ack. Take some medication, a day off, and a lot of rest. Nothing is worse than
knowing sickness is coming on. Take care if yourself.

That skirt is just too fun. The length looks great on you. Now, go flounce the skirt, lay on a fainting couch, and in your most dramatic way, call for BF to tend to your ailing self ;-)

  6. At least you DO paint your nails. I'm too lazy to even do that.

I adore this outfit! I love that skirt, it's so twirly and the pop of color in your top is fantastic!

I'm sorry you're getting the ICK. I'm finally over mine (except for still being a little snotty) and I have to say, the SuperC powders in my waters helped a LOT. I know you said they won't help you but they certainly can't hurt! :)

  7. You can "feel" a sore throat "coming on"?? My hubbenator swears up and down he can "feel" illnesses "coming on" too, I always thought he was just making stuff up to get out of helping me paint my nails >.<
I hope the sickies stay away, and you feel 100% soon :)
You look adorable, and surprisingly, that skirt's a fantastic length on you. I'm always afraid of below-the-knee hemlines, but after seeing this outfit, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a skirt I've been eying for a while.

  21. So you're all sorts of cute today, sore throat or not. I'm excited that you got the skirt after all, I remember how much you liked it. I hope you feel better and even though you can't stay in due to the snow (don't think it's snowing in Texas, but what do I know), maybe you can just take a sick day and rock it out in your pjs!!

  27. I know everyone has their cold remedies, but I swear by oil of oregano. I usually take it when I feel a sickness "coming on" and somehow it pre-empts it. Anyway, I hope you feel better soon, take lots of sick days, and rest up!

I love the second last photo of your skirt, tights, and shoes. It's really cute, and a great way to showcase the skirt :)

  33. Oh there's all sorts of things like boiling onions and drinking the water. Neosporin in the nose to shorten the cold (zinc). I haven't tried the onions, but have tried many other remedies. And that apple cider vinegar works wonders. If you couldn't talk this day, your skirt was doing all of the beautiful words for you. Me likey!

I'm going to get my nails done tonight...so excited because I've hardly taken care of my hands this winter. Staying cute (when all you want is to be warm) takes a lot of effort :) hahahahaha
