polka calico

When I saw Kendi in this outfit, I knew I wanted to try my hand at the whole "polka-dotted top over a dress" thing too. I mean, how adorable is her ensemble?! Now, I don't have the lovely pieces she has in her outfit, but I do have a little cropped top from F21 and a calico number from Anthropologie, so here's my version of "polka printing" --

top, f21
'collected calico' dress, anthropologie
wedge flats, cole haan
brown belt, urban outfitters
ring, f21
bangle, kate spade

I retrospect, I think a sleeveless top may have worked better so I don't look so upside-down triangle on top. Next time!

I'll leave you all with a Monday bite -- browned butter rice krispie treats with sea salt! The recipe is from Smitten Kitchen, and it's a winner every single time I make it. Enjoy!

  8. What a cute combo! Those rice krispies remind me of kellogs LCMs bars and look very yummy. I have a fondness for sweet and very subtly salty things right now.

  9. What a great idea! I never would think to put a top over a dress, but it can really work! Especially when you have a cropped top (I would never dare wear those with my belly hanging out!) But over a dress, it totally makes it ok ;)
