little black dress, meet long black dress

I'm not entirely sold on the whole "sheer skirt on top of glorified granny panties" trend that some starlets seem to be rocking these days (a la Rosie MeganFoxReplacement-o-tron-ington), but I admit that there's something to the idea of making a long black skirt a little less "heavy" with some transparency. Imagine my delight when I found this fun little number in F21!

knit maxi dress, f21
jacket, diane von furstenberg
ring, f21
bangle, kate spade
belt, mom's
necklace, gift

It employs the "sheer" trick, but instead of peekaboo hot pants underneath, there's something akin to a little black dress instead.

I can dig that.

Especially since I know I can never get away with strutting around in peekaboo hot pants. Undoubtedly, it would cause some innocent onlookers quite the mental shock from which they will invariably never fully recover, and I just can't live with that on my conscience.

Also, for those of you who are avid backdrop watchers or simply are great with details, you may have noticed a little something happening on my wall back there -- new prints!

I'm super excited to start adding even more prints in the coming weeks, so expect to see this collection grow and grow. If you have any questions about any of these prints, please feel free to ask. I love supporting independent artists!

Finally, for those of you who haven't yet heard, there's a Shabby Apple dress giveaway going on here! Check out this post to enter!

  2. First I have to comment on the outfit - fantastic take on the trend. I have been trying to wrap my conservative little mind around how I can rock the look and I think you are onto something here. Love it.

Also, I love the prints and how you are arranging them. They look great as a work in progress and can stand on their own like this, even if you never add any more. ♥

  3. I'm with you, I'm not into the see-through skirts that glory granny panties. I think they work very well with very very very tall girls but not on me.

This outfit is very fall-like. I love the black dress! And you made is more casual with the jacket, which I love.
