coming back soon....

Hey guys! I know I've been gone for FOREVER, which wasn't intentional, mind you. I just kept telling myself "Oh, I'll post tomorrow" or "I'll post next week," but obviously, that never happened. Life just kept getting in the way -- and by life, I mean me getting sick over and over again and on those rare weeks where my immune system isn't getting the tar beat out of it by the cold virus, I'd always be rushing to get to work (and therefore have no time to snap photos). BIG SIGH.

And sure enough, I can't come back now because guess what's happening AGAIN? Me: 0. Cold: 239854713933.

Got any cold remedies to recommend? I have crazy congestion, sneezing, leaky nose syndrome, and one hell of a sore throat. A coworker of mine recommended soaking an onion in honey and then eating the onion honey, and no lie, I'm so desperate that I've got a plastic container with an onion marinating in honey right now for tomorrow's consumption. HELP.

  1. Awww, sweetie this sounds awful! Have you seen a doctor? I used to get sick ALL the time too, but over the past couple of years, that has subsided a lot. I am unsure why though. I wish I had some good advice...I always just resort to Nyquil, tylenol, and lots of sleep. But please see a doc if you can! You probably need antibiotics.

  2. My no fail cold remedy is the Walgreen's generic brand of Tylenol daytime severe cold. I swear it works better than the actual Tylenol brand and you won't even know you have a cold. Miracle drug.

  3. Try Emergen-z They sell it at your local grocer. It's Vitamin c concentrate and you just drink it with orange drink or orange juice. It's fizzy but makes you feel so much better. Works for me everytime. and If you have a cough Delsym is THE BEST! Hope you feel better :(

  4. I tried my best to fight the germs on my own, but after weeks of being sick (congestion, sore throat), I finally got a z-pack and started feeling better after one day on the meds. I know antibiotics don't work for the cold or flu viruses, but those bacteria will come and kick you when you're down, especially in the chest. As Beautygirl24 said, maybe a doctor can offer more help. Temporarily, gargling with very warm salt water seemed to help the sore throat.

  5. the boyfriend and I swear by Tylenol severe cold medicine--the bright blue liquid. (tried the Walgreens version once when we couldn't get Tylenol's but it didn't do it for us....) the minty-ness really helps open up the sinuses & feels good on the throat. Other that that, hot tea formulated for sure throats (Yogi brand?) with honey. hope you feel better!

  6. I have the immune system of a baby bird and I swear airborne works. I take it right when I start to feel like maybe I might be sick. I almost never actually get sick! It's great stuff

  7. Hope you feel better soon, Amy! We've missed your posts. Here's my remedy: grate fresh ginger into the bottom of a mug (or you can use powdered ginger, but the fresh stuff is better), mix it with a spoonful of honey, add hot water to fill the mug, and drink. It seriously helps, and it's pretty tasty too. If you don't take a multivitamin, take one while you're sick; some people swear by zinc or vitamin C - I like to just up my vitamin intake overall, and a multi is good for that (just one a day, though - don't go nuts out of desperation). Finally, drink liquids (the ginger tea, regular tea, water, whatever) like it's your JOB. Goes without saying that you will pee a lot. This is annoying, but not as annoying as being attacked by internal microbes bent on your gradual demise. That, plus as much rest/sleep as you can humanly manage, and you should be on the mend soon.

  8. I hope you feel better, take loads of iron and vitamin bills to strengthen your immune system. About good remedies for cold, here are mine with a bit of cultural remedies:

    1. Tylenol Total (the best drug when it comes to helping you with the flu).

    2. Fresh ginger boiled with water, then mix a teaspoon of natural honey with fresh lemon juice. Yummy and so good for your throat and chest.

    3. Milk warmed with 2 fresh garlic (nasty, but its the best in giving you relief of congestion, leaky nose and of course will clear your chest).

  9. I hope you're feeling better soon, Amy, you've been missed!

I take vitamin C pills daily and double up when I feel the least bit sickly - I swear it helps!

  10. FYI, my dad swears by the Netty Pot. Not glam by any means but that man has not been sick in the last two years he's been using it.

  11. Try zicam when you first get a scratchy throat. Once you get better, take some kind of vitamin b/c combination. It may help build your immunity. Both of those things help me.

  12. I do the ginger honey tea that Vicky mentioned. I use a small amount of water though & take it like a shot. Hope you get well soon.
