anthro reviews

Vanilla Bean Blouse, $59.95:

This little blouse was all the rage in Blog Land when it came out, and I can see why. It's light, sweet, and fun. I took this in my regular size Small and it fit relatively well. The length deterred me from walking out of the store with it, though -- it's a touch too long for my short stature.

Sea's Epitome Shirt, $58:

The sailboat print caught my eye as I walked past where this fun little tee was displayed. I'm wearing my usual size Small and it fits nicely. The fabric is a little nubby, which I love, and it has a nice stretch to it. I love the way the collar looks! That being said, though, I don't feel like this is worth $58. It just didn't feel "special" enough to warrant that price, if you know what I mean.

Molecular Gingham Buttondown, $98:

The first picture is of how I would probably style this shirt. I really like the coloring and fit of this shirt and I've been hankering for a "suckered" gingham shirt for a while now. I'm wearing a size Small and it fits nicely. It's a loose fit, which I'm sure is how it's supposed to be. The fabric isn't as soft as I'd like, though. Also, I'm not wild about the price. Methinks I'll be hitting up J.Crew's Suckered Gingham Shirt for $30 less instead. Also, J.Crew's version comes in fun colors!

"Parachute" Blouse, $49.95:

I don't remember what this blouse is called, but I'm sure you Anthro lovers do! It went on sale maybe two weeks ago, and I had originally tried it on in my usual size 2 and I hated it. However, I decided on a whim today to try it on in a size 6 (because that was the smallest size left in my store) and lo and behold! I love it a lot more! I like how much more loose and billowy it is in the bigger size, though the sleeves still look horrible on me. I adore it under the Cartography cardigan, though. Sigh. I ended up putting this one back because as much as I love it layered under cardigans and jackets, I can't justify paying $50 for something that can't stand on its own as well.

  1. The Tandem Jump Blouse (parachute blouse) was horrible on me when I tried on instore, but I tried my normal sz (0), maybe sizing up would have done the trick... but agree about the price.

Also, I'm DYING for the Sea's Epitome Tee, but in red (that way I can wear to it Phillies games!), but I just instated a shopping ban, so maybe it'll still be around AND on sale when the ban lifts ;) Looks great on you though!

  2. I think the parachute blouse is so extremely adorable on you, if I were you I'd buy it even if only to wear under a different cardigan every time. Also love the vanilla bean blouse on you- I think it's meant to be a little long and flowy- it certainly doesn't look clownishly long on you.

  3. I love the sea's epitome shirt on you- but I totally agree, its just not the kind of top that worth nearly $60, however cute it may be.

  4. The parachute blouse looks darling on you! I think it would great with all the stuff you currently own - tucked into a flouncy skirt, belted on its own, under a cardi ...

  5. Awww, you look super cute in all these tops Amy! I really like the Sea's Epitome and the Vanilla Bean on you especially. I know what you mean about the Tandem Jump blouse being too big and billowy around the shoulders, I can see how that can overwhelm some frames, but I think it looks super great under that cardi on you, and I agree with Tara that it's worth getting if only to wear under cardigans every time =)
Oh, and don't think I don't see that Drifiting By Dress in the background missy -- what did you think of it?? :)

  6. I thought the Vanilla Bean blouse was adorable too, but too sheer for my taste. You look so thrilled in all of these pieces! Did you find anything else you liked on this trip?

  7. Great tops. I have the parachute blouse and haven't worn it yet. it still has the tags and everything. I might return it for the reasons you said, it's hard to justify $50 for something that can't really stand alone. I do like the Sea Epitome tee, but I will holdout for sale-I can see it going to $29.
