I saw The Walkmen yesterday night at Fitzgerald's, and it was an incredible experience. For one, I was ridiculously close to the stage, so the music was EXTRA LOUD. The setlist was also impressive, with songs spanning nearly all of their albums. I was sad to not hear "Rue the Day" or "Wake Up," but I figure that there's no pleasing everyone when you've got 6 albums worth of material to pick and choose from.
The drummer is what young kids today would call "a beast."
Alas, at least I have some other shows lined up to help me get over my case of P-CB. Next month, just a few days before my birthday, I'm going to see Chris Cornell at the House of Blues. That's right. That same Chris Cornell. It's not Soundgarden, but I'll take it!

Does this skirt make my thighs look fat? If so, I don't care. I love how fun it is!
Also, as you can tell by my love of these shoes and my glittery "concert nails," I love all things glittery and shimmery. I'm sort of like a magpie that way. Or like the dastardly cockatoo that kept pilfering shiny things from hotel guests in that one Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen detective movie. Seriously. That's a real story line.
Have a great weekend!
Ah! LOVE the skirt. You are making me lose all will-power...must at least visit the jCrew outlet STAT. Yay for fun concerts :) I saw Cage the Elephant this week and will see Sarah McLachlan next week---wheeeee!
ReplyDeleteUm, I love your purple skirt and your thighs do NOT look fat silly!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Chris Cornell and prefer him solo - have fun!
I love that skirt, and no, your thighs don't look fat. Your shoes are calling my name, I'm a magpie as well so I understand your fascination with all things sparkly!
ReplyDeleteLove the purple + rust combo, and all the wacky cool nail polish blends you've been rocking lately!
ReplyDeleteI saw the Walkmen in '05 (or '04?) in Pittsburgh. No, I am not saying that to gain street cred or whatev-- I had no idea who they were. I got dragged along by friends. It was a good show, but I don't think I have listened to them at all since!
caffeinerd -- Ooo, Cage the Elephant! How were they? I don't know much by them, but the 2 songs I do know ("Ain't No Rest For the Wicked" and "Back Stabbin' Betty"), I like!
ReplyDeleteKim -- Aww, thanks! And I love Chris Cornell too -- if by some miracle I meet him face-to-face, I'm going to make him give you a shout out! ;) You know, after I gawk for 30 minutes straight.
Minnesota Maven -- Haha, yay, a fellow magpie!!
tastymoog -- Thanks! I initially was wearing yellow tights, but it looked way too I LOVE THE LAKERS for my tastes, haha! And I saw The Walkmen in '05 too -- incredible show! I don't blame you though if they're not your cup-o-tea. Like I said, can't please everyone! ^^
amky,
ReplyDeletehaha, I mean, they are alright. I guess I should have said I didn't dislike them, but I was too lazy to seek them out any further... something like that. :)
I will never forget election day '08 as I went to go vote in the morning, I had on purple tights with my outfit and threw on my bright yellow coat (I was coming back home before leaving for the day so I grabbed what was nearest the door). Some kids near the school called me a Laker Girl or something, and I am a Celtics fan, so I was like, UUGGH. :P
Sounds like a great concert...I haven't been to any since the summer, so I'm a bit jealous. :D
ReplyDeletehow fun ~ is there anything better than seeing a great concert? i'm always on such a high the next day from it! i love this purple mini on you ~ it looks fantastic. and the dorrie skirt...sigh. i saw it last night at jcrew and loved it but was afraid it'd be too short. at 40, i'm past my mini-skirt prime. boo. i think a skirt right above the knee (or an inch or so) it perfectly acceptable so i'll size up and see if that helps. it looked fabulous on you! btw, i bought the blevin blouse in wash - i never expected it to be so cute. it will be my ootd today. ;) ~ susan
ReplyDeleteooooh, i love everything about this outfit. The colors are just awesome and I may steal that skirt!
ReplyDeleteFabulous outfit! Especially the skirt that color looks great on you!

ReplyDeleteLOVE that shade of purple! Great outfit I love it! Great outfit and that necklace is really something else!
ReplyDeletewait, you have a monocle necklace?! you are absolutely adorable. i'm in love with this ensemble. and i totally get the post-event blues. not a wildspin of depression, mind you, but just a little, y'know, bummed that it's all over. and i love me a good concert. seriously, this outfit is super cute.

ReplyDeleteYou look awesome! I need that purple skirt! :)
ReplyDeleteGiggling over your magpie status. Love your skirt and stripes combo. I too feel the same let-down-ish sort of way after a big event. And OMGeeee Chris Cornell?! Awesome and very jealous. :)
ReplyDeleteThe skirt does not make your thighs look fat silly girl!!! I love the mix of color and what a fun frock you created!
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit, the skirt is awesome on you! I love live concerts, my fave bands are Cold Play and Blue Rodeo, and I've been lucky enough to snag tickets to their shows a few times over the years. There's nothing like a live concert experience :)
ReplyDeleteLoving the outfit. That skirt is amazing. I want it!
ReplyDeleteLove the look, that skirt is so pretty! And the Walkmen are one of my favorite bands ever. I've not seen them live in awhile...sad they didn't play Rue the Day but I'm sure the set was fantastic. :)
