LANTERN HEARTS

Bonjour, mes amis! I think I phrased that correctly. I took a year of French in college and I'm pretty sure I didn't learn anything.

I'm terrible at languages, but it's not for lack of trying. For some reason, I just don't get it. I mean, I took 3 years of Latin in high school and my teacher might as well have been trying to teach the subject to a potato.

In fact, I'm sure most root vegetables would be able to conjugate verbs better than I can.

Moving on, the OOTD:

blouse, ann taylor loft
wrap skirt, theory
heart tights, urban outfitters
wide belt, calvin klein
black flats, urban outfitters

I decided to take Tara's photography advice (Little Girl Big Closet) of using a prop, but I'm pretty sure she meant a relevant prop and not some random thing in my apartment, haha!

Also, a quick update on my weight loss progress -- since taking much of the advice you all so kindly gave me last week (drink more water! strength train! plan your snacks!), I have lost 2 pounds as of today. HECK YES. I plan to lose at least 2 more pounds by next week, so let's see how this goes! *fingers crossed*

Also also, congrats to Sylviee for winning the $100 Shopbop giftcard giveaway!

  3. Hooray! I'm glad you're doing it slow and steady, that's the way to do it!

You look SO fantastic in this outfit! I love those tights and the belted cardigan and the ruffles underneath.

If it makes you feel any better, I took four years of Spanish and can't remember a thing. It's awful.

  6. Don't worry girl, I took Latin in junior high, four years of HS spanish and four semester of french in college - and about all I remember is the "Ten Little Romani" song - and that "poulet" and "pouvet" are not the same thing.

I love how you always know how to rock a full skirt well - even with a bird cage candle holder, haha! ;o)

  13. hahaha - you crack me up - a potato! I have just been looking into signing my kids up for Latin. Oh boy. I will be of no help I'm sure. I love the color of your cardi and your cute tights. I started strength training this week too - my upper body is killing me. Today was cardio so tomorrow is lower body - I'm scared. What are you doing to train?

  14. Yay way to re-kick start your weight loss journey! I went to French immersion school from K - 6th grade. I took a break from french until I went to college and was so surprised that I picked it back up so quickly. When you're in time of need - you'll remember. :)

  15. You look too cute! re: weight loss. Think "fitness gain". I've been doing weight training since the new year, and yes, my lower half still has a ways to go (cos that's where I tend to carry my weight), but I've been seeing real results with my arms and shoulders, and the waistline has shrunk! Weight hasn't gone down at all, but my goal was to get more toned, not skinny. Good luck with your health program!

  16. I love your outfits!!! And I'm so proud of your hard work paying off :)

I have an affinity for languages but I'm like a potato when it comes to math. And by "math" I mean counting. I always make mistakes in my aerobics classes counting to 12 for our repetitions...I like to think it's because I'm focused on everyone's form and keeping them motivated--but really I'm just a potato. I always designate a class participant as my counting police. LOL
