closing walls and ticking clocks

Did I quote a Coldplay song in the post title? Yessir, I did.

I love this skirt, but it can be a challenge to wear because sometimes I feel like the short length + poofy factor + crazy clock motif can be a bit overwhelming if it's not paired with just the right thing. With those concerns in mind, I decided to go for a classic striped Oxford buttoned top, as well as some plain black tights and plain black pumps. Kind of like a sanity sandwich around something potentially nutty.

My metaphors need work.

top, gap
skirt, anthropologie
tights, xhilaration
heels, steve madden
belt, j.crew

Looking at these pictures, I don't even know why I was concerned over the skirt length. Sometimes I forget that I'm fun-sized and not normal-people-sized, so I can get away with wearing shorter hem lengths.

  3. hahaha - "sanity sandwich". i like that. a lot. you look super cute - love this pairing - but i gotta ask: how are you able to wear tights? it is so so hot in austin right now (like 100 degrees) and while i WANT to wear tights i just can't do it.

  6. One of my favorite skirts---love it! I agree, it can be a tricky one to style. You rocked it! But, yes, you are all good with length! I'm 5'10" and honestly don't think of it as one of my shorter skirts. Do have to be cautious with how twirly/full it is before sitting down, though ha.

  7. Hee hee, I love your metaphors, especially being fun-sized. This skirt is so charming but i can see how it would be difficult to wear.
