so close to the weekend that I can taste it

Oooh it is so close to the weekend! I can't tell you how relieved I am that tomorrow is Friday. FRIDAY! You know what that means? Drinks, no gym, and sleeping in the next day. That sounds glorious to me.

top:
Forever 21 lace dress
Diane Von Furstenberg jacket
bottom:
Hue tights
etc:
BCBG Allie flats
Urban Outfitters belt

This was my first time wearing this dress, which I found last month, tucked away in one of those huge messy piles that Forever 21 seems to believe is an apt method of organizing merchandise. I was originally worried that I wouldn't be able to transition it into my fall wardrobe, but tights and a jacket did the trick. I actually kind of prefer it this way - without the tights, the dress looks a bit too twee. And the fact that I look like I'm still 13 years old doesn't help that, either.

Thanks for the input on the dresses from the last post! Unfortunately, the Lulus dress is now sold out in my size (grrrr...), so I plan to visit Anthropologie this weekend to scope out the Monochromatic dress, and I already ordered the Modcloth peplum one. I waste no time!

And I forgot to add this when I first wrote this post, but the wonderful Pamela over at Ginger Girl gave me this:

The rules are:

1) Thank the person who gave this to me: Thanks Pamela! I've only been blogging for a little while and it makes me happy that you thought of giving this to me!

2) Copy the Logo and place it your blog: Done.

3) Link the person who nominated you: visit Pamela at Ginger Girl!

4) Name 7 things about yourself that no one would really know: See below.

5) Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers: See below the other see below.

6) Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate: See above. (confused yet?)

7) Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know you nominated them: Soon to be completed!

Now, the 7 Things You Probably Don't Know About Me:

1. I am obsessed with all things "old." I have a collection of vinyl records (record player included), I still write snail mail letters, I love Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin, and I hope to own a great big inconvenient typewriter one day.

2. When I was little, I wanted to be a whale trainer.

3. But now I'm in my 20s, and I still can't swim. So there goes that ambition.

4. I have two tattoos: one on my forearm that you can see in most of my photos (I'll post on that some other time), and one on my back by my left shoulder. That one is rarely seen just because of its location. It's of an Andy Warhol painting of two koi kites, which I got done when I was a mere 18 years old.

5. I can't stand the sound of crinkling cellophane, so whenever I get something that's wrapped in it, I need someone else to go into another room and unwrap it for me.

And I nominate...

1. Sharon from Sharon Loves This
2. Rosemary from Booking it Bus Style
3. Goldenmeans from Goldenmeans
4. Marisa from According to Moi
5. Tastymoog from Commonwealth Girl
6. OneFashionistaDiva from Once Upon a Fashionista
7. Summerilla from Sum Sunshine

I know a lot of the people on my blogroll have been deservedly nominated before, so I tried to give this to the wonderful people who haven't. Thanks for the great reads and keeping me sane at work!

  6. Wow! Thanks for the award! :) This outfit is so pulled together. I've got a similar dress that I've been having some trouble with. Hmmm, may have to take a page from the Amy Kelinda playbook!

And yes, hooray for the weekend!

  8. Cute outfit. Wish I could pull off prairie chic, but I feel too self conscious!

    Isn't forever21 crazy? What a mess. I can't figure it out.

Thanks for the mention, it gave me something to do this morning because I can't sleep!

  12. Patina - Aww, thanks! I'm blushing!

    Stylestance - Thanks!

    Ashley - Thanks! I hope I don't disappoint!

Summerilla - You're welcome, you totally deserve it! And just think of it this way: we'll love looking way younger than we actually are in the future!

Gigiofca - Yay for non-swimmers! Not that I haven't tried...

Rosemary - Ooo, do! That dress needs to be worn!

    Embers - Thanks!

Tastymoog - You're welcome about the reward, I'm glad you had fun with it! And F21 makes no sense in their organization. If they weren't so inexpensive, I doubt anyone would bother with it.

NoJCrewinJapan - Thanks! And you're welcome about the award! You deserve it!

    Sarah - Thanks!

Tres Tippy - Ooo, you gave me an idea! I have a cropped black blazer in my closet. Mayhaps that'll be a future outfit!

  14. Aw, thanks so much for the award Amy! I am the biggest flake when it comes to responding to blog awards, but I'm going to try to respond respectably to this one sometime soon :) Also that dress is the cutest thing I've ever seen and it needs to get online NOW!!

  15. I work for the dept of defense as a management analyst with the marine corps - no, i'm not a marine. Hubby is a fire chief for the same and we moved here for the jobs! It's been awesome so far but I'm just about ready to get moving... :-)

  16. I love reading your blog every day!
I like the white dress with tights. Great transition! OMG, F21 always looks a like a twister hit it when they are unloading boxes AKA stocking the floor!!! how do they do it?!?! I always wonder what it would be like to work there and have to work the closing shift. how do you know where to restock "misplaced" items?!?!?

Goldenmeans - Sometimes life just gets in the way of blog awards, haha! No worries!

NoJCrewinJapan - Oh, how exciting! How long have you two been there?

Pamela - I know what you mean about F21 being a total mess! I have NO IDEA how the sales people there organize anything, which may be why it always looks like that!

OneFashionistaDiva - You're welcome! I love seeing the cute outfits you pull together!

Kristin - I still love whales, though I gave up on training them. Free Willy was one of my favorites when I was a kid!

  23. Good for you that you go! I wish I could make myself hit the workouts like you're doing. I'm at a point where I'm willing to curb my eating if it means I can trade off having to go on the elliptical! As in, I can do cardio for 30 mins and burn 300 cals, or I can just not eat 300 cals! Winner - Diet! Let me know how the strength training goes! I saw your post about your arms! :)

  24. Tatiana - Thanks! We just need to make sure to swim where lifeguards are present, haha!

Chloe - Those are AMAZING boots!

    Jowy - Thanks!

NoJCrewinJapan - I love food to much and lack willpower to successfully diet, haha! I love to eat eat eat! And I hope to have some super Jen Aniston-esque arms soon!
