pretty shoes to beat the blues

Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday - it was kind of a rough ol' Thursday in my neck of the woods. Also, I always snap pictures before running out the door for work and some days I just don't have time. You know, because of my hit-the-snooze-button-and-sleep-for-"just-5-more-minutes" habit. Except my body is stuck in another dimension where "5 more minutes" equals "another half an hour." So that never really works out in my favor. Oops.

Also, I have a confession. Most of my "Outfits of the Day" are in actuality "Outfits of the Day Before." This is because I don't have time to edit (ie. resize ginormous photos) my pictures and upload them before work, so I always do my post writin' at night and look over it all in the morning before I hit 'PUBLISH.' It's a wonky system, but it works! How do you other ladies do your blogging?

Thank you all for being patient with me and sticking around! I can't believe I'm almost at 200 followers now! It's amazing how wonderful this community is and I am very happy to be part of it. I have some of the sweetest readers in the world who have left me comments that make me smile and emails that melt my heart. Thank you! I'll be doing another giveaway soon to celebrate reaching 200+ followers and my upcoming birthday. You read that right -- this gal is adding another ring to her Life Tree in just a few weeks. But more on that when the date gets nearer...

For now, here's my OOTD (or OOTDB if you want to get technical) (I don't):

pleated purple dress, thrifted
'always' cardigan, j.crew [x]
xhilaration navy tights, target [x-ish]
'rita' heels, seychelles [x] [x]
kimchi blue 'wide metal leaf' belt, urban outfitters [x]
stone bracelet, lucky brand
owl necklace, f21 [x-ish]

I'm wearing my new Seychelles 'Rita' heels from Anthropologie (called the 'Ringsend heels' there). I got them when they first came up on Anthro's website, but then returned them because the size 7 was too big and I didn't like the way they looked on my feet in general. But then I saw Tara rocking them and I instantly wanted those shoes back! Haha! Don't judge me -- I'm still an impetuous child, even though my birth certificate implies that I should be otherwise. I ordered them again, in a 6.5 this time, and I am so glad that I did. I love them! The style is very retro and the gray and brown color combination is lovely. Beware though, the toe box is pretty snug and the tie part of the shoe is tight. I loosened the laces, but it didn't really make a difference. Then again, I'm between a size 6.5 and 7, so that's probably why I'm having those issues.

Happy weekending, everyone!

  2. Love this outfit, and I'm glad you reconsidered those shoes- they look great on you! Thanks for the shoutout btw ^^
    I usually don't get to photograph my OOTD until after dinnertime- sometimes as late as midnight, and I post them immediately afterwards, which explains the late-night posts, wrinkled clothing and general disheveled appearance --;
Oooh birfday!! When when whennn?!! My b-day's in 2 months and I don't even wanna think about just *how* old I'm gonna feel when that day comes! Aaah, such is life.

  3. When I work from home, my ootd photos increase. Sometimes, I put an outfit on the next day and take a picture because I didn't have a chance to photograph when I actually wore it. I'm a morning person so time isn't really the issue, but lighting is a factor.

  7. tam pham - Thanks!

Tara B - You inspired me to reconsider those shoes, so I should be thanking YOU! And for someone who posts AFTER dinner, you always look so put together and beautiful! I actually change right into PJs the moment I come home, so I could never do that, haha! That and I'm normally all sweaty from the gym by the time I get home... ugh... My birthday is next month and I also don't want to dwell on how old I'm turning, haha! In reality, it's not old at all, but I certainly feel like it is!

tastymoog - Oh man, I wish I was a morning person like you. But I am so. lethargic. Haha!

Tien - They really are a great color! I had wanted the peach and yellow ones before but I'm glad I gave these a shot.

  9. I love the combo of the purple and blue, and those shoes are vintage-y cute. I think you've been knocking it out of the park lately with your spring-y dress looks.

FYI - the Ritas are also available on Endless and Zappos (both FS/FR).

  11. Lisa - Thanks! I admit that sometimes I go for dresses so often just because it's "easy." I mean, the top and bottom are one piece. And that's good news for someone as indecisive as me! I saw the Ritas on Endless and wanted to get them (because of the Bing cashback they were offering) but then my size promptly sold out. Boo!

    Ro - Haha, awesome!

  14. Oooh, I really like the Ritas in this colorway! Cute. You guys convince me to buy and try all this stuff, ahh!!

And as for my outfit posts, I take the pictures day of (when/if possible) and then post whenever I'm able to. I try to post day of but it ends up being between midnight and 2 AM most of the time and would rather post in the morning.

  17. I'm totally like you in the morning where the five minutes turn into thirty with so many snooze button hits. I don't have a blog yet, but need to figure out when to take photos. No time in the morning and I'm usually a wrinkled mess when I get home. They might frown upon me, if I'm snapping photos in the office, lol.
We have the same feet issues!! I'm between a 6.5 and 7 and it can make figuring out the right size a hassle. Your shoes are really cute, good to see you were able to snag a pair and wear them well.
