Speaking of Crewcuts, am I the only person who is ridiculously jealous of how adorable children's clothing is? Seriously, I wish J.Crew would make grown-up sizes of some of the Girl's items. Sigh. And kids can wear anything and look freakin' amazing. I mean, look at this:
On her: so adorable that I half expect rainbows to shoot out from behind her. On an adult: could potentially make you look criminally insane.
But that doesn't mean an adult couldn't pull off the same elements of this look to make it work in, you know, Adult World (nevermind that that sounds like a sketchy video place). Say, open up the collar of the chambray shirt and extend the bow tie with some silver chains to make it into a bow tie necklace. Then swap the tutu-looking skirt for a full white eyelet or accordion-pleated skirt. Change the shoes to "grown-up" flats, sans strap. Replace the brown leather belt with a wider one. BAM. Grown-up version of this adorable kid's ensemble.
I may entertain the idea of taking Crewcuts looks and making my own "grown-up" versions of them. Anyone on board?
But I do occasionally buy from the Crewcuts line. I'm pretty small on top, so sometimes I can manage to squeeze into their sweaters and tees, which makes me happy, because the girls have awesome sweaters and tees! Here's a purchase that's making it way to me right now:

That's right, I borrowed the skirt! Just kidding... it's the shirt, of course! This was part of his old middle school uniform and I snagged it when he outgrew it and my mom was considering tossing it out. Hooray for reusing! I have to admit that me mooching off my brother's clothes is a one-way kind of deal, though. I mean, sure I can shop his closet, but he can't exactly shop mine.
At least, I hope not. He'd look terrible in a pencil skirt.
