eyelet debut, disappointment ensues

Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone! I don't actually know anyone who celebrates, but it's a good excuse to go out and drink an excessive amount of margaritas on a Wednesday night. Which, for me, is approximately one margarita.

I got to finally wear my eyelet skirt on its own, but I'm not completely sure about my feelings for this particular outfit. The more I think about it, the more "miss" it seems to me than "hit." Ah well. That just means I'll have to think up something else to pair the skirt with in the future.

perfect fit slim scoopneck tee, j.crew [x]
cartography cardigan, anthropologie [x]
eyelet skirt, modcloth [x]
classic leather belt, j.crew
snakeskin elly criss cross wedge flats, cole haan [x-ish]
gold hoop earrings, target
rat-a-tat hat, modcloth [x]

You better believe that I scoped out the sale at Anthropologie yesterday. Although there were a number of things I wanted to get, I only pulled the trigger on the lovely calico dress that I tried on months ago here. I really wanted the Two Paths trench as well, but it's sold out in my size online and I didn't get a chance to check my stores. The Arribada dress was calling my name, but I was a good girl and didn't bite. The price is still too steep for me. Especially after I just placed an order for this beauty:

Behold, Rebecca Minkoff's Morning After Bag in Violet/Pansy! I've been lusting after the MAB for quite some time now and have also been squirreling away money for it. After I saw it in this color, I knew I had to have it. It is now on its way to me and I can't wait to get my hot little hands on it! Mine mine miiiiine!

  1. Gahhh grabby hands at your MAB, the color is gorgeous... I'm obsessed with my MAM and I've been using it for 4mths straight already... no signs of getting sick of it or changing it up..

I love the pic with the swishy skirt... looks artsy, it's cute :)

  2. Lady, I don't see a thing wrong with that skirt on you. It looks darling! (Plus I literally got that exact skirt in the mail yesterday and am eyeballing it from across the room right now, giving it the suspicious stink eye).

And I love your orange belt and am trying to figure out you awesome belt-tying origami technique.

    Googly eyes at your MAB.

  5. I wish my 'misses' were this cute! I love your outfit! And I've also been considering pulling the plug on the MAB, I have a Nikki and a MAM and love them both so when I find a color I love in MAB you can bet it will be mine! Great to see you have fabulous taste in bags as well! Happy Cinco!

I'm also insanely jealous of your new bag! I've been looking for the perfect lavender bag after missing out on the MbyMj Hillier in that color last year. I want this one now! I have one MAM already, and love it!

  13. I have the hardest time styling solid skirts like that...that's why I come here for your fabulous inspiration! For some reason pencil skirts are much easier for me to work with!

  19. ooh, that bag is a nice color. it looks very pet-worthy. :)

I like this skirt (it's cute!), but if you are looking for something a little less full/flouncy, garnet hill has an eyelet skirt that is more pencil in shape.

  23. I like this outfit – is there something in particular that bothers you about it? It looks so summery. And hooray for the RM bag. I have a MAM that I've been carrying since 2006 and I still love it.

  24. you look so cute, as always! love the shot of you in motion, the skirt looks great. i'm a lightweight myself, so 1 margarita is my max. anything after that and i start to turn so obviously red. this is why i can never drink during lunch and then go back to work (um not that people do that around here...)

congrats on the new bag! is the neverfull going to be your next :)
