high five! OWWWW

I am so glad to hear that some of you ladies also can't bench-press a bag of marshmallows. I'd high-five you all, but I'm in pain, so that'll have to wait. My arms are killing me! I could barely get dressed this morning and my gunning through another gym session after work today certainly didn't improve matters much. Sigh.

I usually take my outfit photos before heading off to work, but I ran a tad behind schedule this morning* so that didn't happen. Boo!

This may sound completely silly, but I've got a possible date night in a few weeks and I'm already planning what to wear!

But before we dive into that, a little background setting is in order: You see, I'm suffering from a condition commonly known as "perpetually single." The last relationship I was in ended over 4 years ago, and since then I've had a string of terrible dating experiences. As in every dude was a total weirdo. Or creeper. Or both. -shudders- But, I recently met someone quite wonderful, and we made plans to catch a play together next month. Though I haven't spoken to him in a while, I hope he still remembers. But even if that falls through, I have a great buddy who promised to accompany me to the show in his place, so either way, I need a fabulous date night outfit!

At the moment, I'm thinking of wearing a little black dress topped with my classic khaki trench from Banana Republic. So here are some contenders for the category of "Theater Date Night Little Black Dress" thus far:

A. Monochromatic Corset Dress from Anthropologie

B. Evening in Paris Dress from Lulus

C. Escapade Dress from Modcloth

Okay, so Dress A isn't technically a little black dress, but I still love it. The lace-up detail in the back is WOW. And I adore the neckline detail on Dress B. Dress C has a cute retro-ish vibe (must be the peplum) that I dig. It might even look rad paired with bright or patterned tights! The choices!

*see above mention of "arms are killing me" and "I could barely get dressed this morning"

  2. Oooh, a date night! How fun! :) I'm sure any of these frocks would look fab on you, but I've got to side with Pamela and vote for the lulus dress.

I totally feel your exercise pain--I got peer pressured into doing the 30 Day Shred and it's complete hell.

  4. I love the second two dresses. The first one is sort of meh to me.

Also, I plan outfits months in advance. We go to visit my fiancee's parents for Thanksgiving and I have been planning my wardrobe for MONTHS.

  8. Pamela - Aww, thanks for the award! I'll post it up when I get home. I'm going to see Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest," which is my favorite play to read. I've never seen it performed (live) before, though, so I'm really excited. I am a bit worried, because it's a very British play, and well... the performers aren't British!

Rosemary - I don't know what a 30 Day Shred is, but I am very sure I would not like it!

Kristin - The second choice is really popular, but it's sold out in every size but large! GRRR.

Kim - Man, I sure could use some cleavage! My girls seem to be afraid of daylight or something. I plan to make a weekend trip to my Anthro store for the dress, I hope they have one in my size!

Sarah - I'm glad I'm not the only early planner! But a dinner with your fiancee's parents is a big deal, so I'd be planning that outfit way in advance too!

Sharon - I'm excited too! I plan to try on the Anthro dress this weekend. Hopefully they have one in the store for me!

Tastymoog - And that's exactly what I need!

Tatiana - I really could use Lady Luck to come around here right now, haha! My prince charming seems to be lost in the woods without a map, so I need some extra help finding him.

  12. Aw, I think you are so cute for planning your date outfit so early! I would totally do the same thing. I really like the LuLu's dress, but since it's sold out, I think the Monochromatic Corset is a great option too, it's super flattering on!!
